Okay, let me explain myself. In my opinion Alex is a gimmick, because Albert Wesker is dead. Through using Alex they are bringing in a Albert like character never mentioned in previous games before RE 5 yet apparently his story started back in RE 1. It is completely out of the blue and the reason for bringing him in it seems is because the real Wesker is dead. They would want that due to the fact that people love Albert. In my opinion it's really the only plausible way we didn't think of in the Wesker isn't dead thread of bringing him back, without it being too obvious of a gimmick.

You're sort of missing Wesker's death in general and the Wesker Project being out of the blue. Besides, if they're going to explain Wesker being a part of some big project, they can't just leave out the other Weskers. This was a necessary part for the road they're going down. For all we know, Alex Wesker is absolutely nothing like Albert.

Well he's not really his little brother. He was in charge of the Wesker project so all he is is his namesake really. Not even a blood relative.

and i think its pretty nice we lost wesker and thought ooh no they can never do a great villian again in the re world BUt bam what do we get Alex wesker spencer´s favorite that screwed him over ^^ i hope I HOPE alex wesker will be in resident evil 6.

It's hardly the first time Capcom have done this.

To be fair though, your post seems to go round in circles. "It's a gimmick because Albert is dead which makes it a gimmick because Albert is dead so Albert being dead makes it a gimmick" is pretty much the gist of what you're saying.

It was a gimmick when Albert was dead in RE1 and then brought back in CODE: Veronica.

He was never mentioned in previous games, but yet he was apparently there since RE1 (wtf).

Can apply to Wesker's reintroduction in CODE: Veronica.

My understanding is that in the RE5 library Alex Wesker was the lead researcher responsible for the Wesker Children project.
The Wesker Children only had a suitable background - and were no way related to directly influenced by Alex Wesker.

Which makes it mighty strange to me that Alex Wesker would have the whole megalomaniacal penchant for taking over the world (if he's the future series villain), when Albert did of his own volition.
The only link I can think of is that they both worked for Umbrella...
Now that I think about it... most of the series villains have worked for Umbrella and have been absolute mentalists - so maybe I shouldn't be suprised.

Personally I think the whole idea is a cop out, and the term 'flogging a dead horse' doesn't do this one justice.

I think Alex Wesker holds a rather interesting significance in regards to the Resident Evil series from this point forward. As soon as I read the file that said he had betrayed Spencer and was now, quite possibly, in possession of a Virus allowing eternal life, made it all rather apparent. It would be my bet that Alex has already used this virus and in now rasing hell somewhere, and it's only a matter of time before our old friends show up, with the intention of stopping his plans. And thus the story continues...

That said, we really don't know this guy at all. It is clear he is quite evil and by the way Capcom has set him up, it does seem likely or at least possible that he'll be our future antagonist.

I agree. But not a kind of Excella-esque villain, but one that could hold up to standards such as Wesker and Sergei or Goldman or DuVall. That's why I fan-boy so hard over Cameron from the 4D Executor. Also, as somebody mentioned above, Christine Henrie (mentioned in one of 5's, IIRC) might be a good choice.

Oh well, that's just my opinion. Who knows? Maybe Alex might be the greatest character ever made.
