Scans are interesting - Chris looks in extremely visual pain at one point, and the blonde girl... erm... dunno I guess she's got a Sherry resemblence? More so than Ashley I suppose. Who is the chap in the scan next to Ashley/Sherry/Lily from Survivor? Is that Beards?

Wasn't it CVG that stated the blonde girl in the dress from RE5 was Sherry and that she would accompany you throughout the campaign ala Ashley, but she would have special powers that you could utilize during combat?

It would make more sense if it was Ashley. Not from a story perspective, of course, but from a development one. Newer fans of the series simply know who Ashley is and most likely don't know Sherry, and since these newer fans are more responsible for the high sales of the later games in the series... well, there you have it. It would be great if it was Sherry, since she is obviously much more connected to the overall story, but I just don't see Capcom doing that. They've all moved on past RE2 (and the other older games), and we simply haven't.

But the only possible link is now gone. The president is not Ashley's father and how exactly is she suddenly able to perform these stunts and know how to handle those injections? If the guy is indeed Alex Wesker, Sherry being his partner would not only make much more sense than anything but it'd also be a nice nod to Albert and William.
Also Darkside Chronicles isn't exactly an old game and while it didn't really sell well it's getting ported over to the PS3. Most will check out Darkside Chronicles when it's ported over and get to know Sherry just in time for RE6.
This also didn't stop them from using Leon, Chris and Jill in newer games nor did it stop Rebecca and Barry from appearing in RE5 as bonus characters for Mercenaries.

Its Shashley. Tricell combined the DNA of Sherry and Ashley to create the ass kicking new B.O.W. which they plan to use and control with a remote control. Here is Adam Sandler promoting it.

The modern gamer is lazy, and Capcom knows this. They will have more success with a character most new generation fans are guaranteed to know.
