Exactly. RE4 is what did the biggest damage to the series (referring to the whole "removed this and that"); at one hand people praise the rather shitty game by current standards, and on the other they complain classic RE elements are gone. Wake up, RE4 is the root of RE's modernization, all elements lost are because of this title, including exploration. Don't just blame RE5 and RE6 for doing what RE4 started, even though the two look, play, and tell a story better than RE4.

RE4 did transform the series, but without it the series would have become stale and died out, look at Silent Hill it's become a backseat franchise because it fails to evolve to what sells in todays market.
