  • From Joystiq:

While Mass Effect 2's in-game DLC pipeline, The Cerberus Network, continues to transport new weapons (and soon, a new vehicle) to players for free, BioWare has announced the game's first pack of paid downloadable content. "Kasumi's Stolen Memory" finally completes Commander Shepard's dirty dozen, adding a confident female thief to your anti-Reaper repertoire. It's currently scheduled to launch for Xbox 360 and PC on April 6th.

After downloading the DLC, players can get in touch with Kasumi on the Citadel, either in the middle of an ongoing Mass Effect 2 game or after the completion of the main story (lesson learned from Mass Effect 1 DLC!). Once recruited, Shepard aids Kasumi on a secretive mission of recovery, which requires a suave disguise and a run-in with an influential and predictably corrupt art collector. The content, which also provides the "Locust" SMG, a flash-bang grenade loyalty power and a new Achievement, should take about an hour and a half to complete.

BioWare is currently in the midst of "internal discussion" to determine the price of the DLC, but we'll keep you updated as soon as it's finalized. Look for some impressions of "Kasumi's Stolen Memory" on Joystiq later today. Spoiler: It looks great.

It'll be interesting to see how the response to this plays out. Personally, I think it's ridiculous to have to pay for the squad selection screen to stop being so irritatingly imbalanced. Besides, surely it would've made more sense to charge for the Hammerhead instead of this if one or the other had to be priced?

Of course, if its price is at least relatively low (like 400 MPS or so), I'll have much less difficulty bringing myself to buy it.

I dont know, man. Poseidon, Cell, Legend. Not only are two of them far away from the source material (warning 1), they are also very average (warning 2). While I liked I am Legend, it wasnt a phenomenal movie from start to finish. The only phenomenal part was when he was alone. Before that and after that, it was "meh".

            • I Am a Legend was pretty good to me (I guess it's just a matter of opinions), about the movie being far away from the source material, yeah you're right but that was the 3rd adaptation u know, they need to make something different.

Anyway, back on Mass Effect movie it has been confirmed that key BioWare staff are involved as executive producers, I'm pretty confident they can do a good job

              • As long as Sam Worthington isn't involved..

Opinions dont really matter. Its about the quality of the movie and how close it is to source material. Just using the name to lure in fans as cattle who will give up ticket money is more than common, as Im sure weve all seen.

The point is that even if you dont like the movie (opinion), you cant deny its quality (TDK, Shawshank, Godfather, et cetera). Thats not the case with I am Legend.

Which is why Im concerned. Well, not concerned, really. Im expecting it to be crap.

                  • Just picked this up, waiting for a time when I'm free to sit down and play it.

Also, big news out of GamesCom today:

                    Mass Effect 2 is PS3-bound in 2011.

                    • But without Mass Effect 1, not nearly as much fun.

                      • Yeah, pretty much. You miss out on a lot without a game save from ME1.

                        • I'd imagine Microsoft's publishing the first game wouldn't allow for it to be on the PS3 (MGS probably allowed Bioware/EA to port it to the PC with some kind of deal) but it's great news for this to be on the PS3 as well. The more people playing this the better. But I don't see it being out a year later (and hopefully a good port and not a bad U3 job) any good if it's going to be full retail price.

                          • AFAIK EA can do pretty much anything they want with Mass Effect 1, MGS doesn't have any say.

It's just that there's no point to (invest money into) port(ing) it, this late.

                            • Microsoft reiterates that ME1 is still console-exclusive to the 360.

Disappointing for PS3 owners. I thought a ME1-ME2 combo pack at full retail price would be very nice.

                              • Well, good news for PS3 only owners, but PS3 owners are going to miss lot of fun since (for now) they aren't getting the first game and the ME2's savegame import feature.
