Bionic Commando Pack is part of the deals of the day on Steam. Only €10.74/$11.24. Contains BC: Rearmed and Bionic Commando. (That's basically BC:R + $2~3 for BC)

I'm a horrible man... I had the XBLA version since day 1 (+got the steam version on release too), but I still signed up a German account during the E3 sales, grabbed an 800 MS point code, and then activated the trial I'd previously downloaded from the Japanese marketplace for the censored version (only available in Germany/Japan/Korea).

Got myself a some doubled BC:R achievements... I feel so dirty... and I'll probably feel even more dirty if I clean out the missing 25g on each version. (Super Hard + 56 challenge rooms). But, yeah, still great fun! Heck! Hard even feels like a walk in the park to me now...

I went to buy the original last Wednesday, whilst it was still 400pts...only i guess i got there just a few minutes late since it was 400 on the Marketplace, but 800 on the actual listing.

So i got it last night anyway...it's still a whole ton of fun.

For the story nuts, seems like the game takes place 5 years after Bionic Commando: Rearmed and 5 years before Bionic Commando (BC3D), which puts it right before the Chain of Command comic that was made to set up of some of the story elements for BC3D.

    And, well, nothing new on the story front is know beyond what was revealed in the game's press release at Captivate;
Nathan Spencer returns as the daring elite soldier equipped with special bionic abilities. Spencer will have to face his greatest challenge yet as General Sabio, a new technologically sophisticated foe, is on the brink of launching a deadly missile attack.
Some of the previews from E3 mention some of the new gameplay mechanics, but I'm trying to go in fresh with only whatever's shown in trailers (that wont last long... I bet. I hear some say you get to use power ups to give you various extra powers... le interesting, if pulled off right)

Enough links to make your competitors envious!

Love the music and how it builds off of Power Plant from Rearmed (Area 08 NES) --which also spawned Groeder's Anthem in BC3D-- mirroring the awesome launch trailer for the original:

(Hey! Might and Delight has a YouTube channel now! Still wonder what mischief they'll be up to in the future)

Also, the Rearmed 2 Trailer shows a new move that wasn't in the Captivate trailer! (A wall slide, ala Megaman X and Prince of Persia). The IGN hands-on preview mentions some of the abilities and features too.

I guess the most positive thing one can say (for now) about the addition of jumping is that, unlike Rearmed, all of Rearmed 2's levels will probably be from ground up original and designed entirely around the existence of a jump button (+I guess we don't know yet whether or not jumping, death from above and/or any other additional moves will available from the start, or unlocked like the equipment and weapons in the first)

I just hope for more Simon Vik’ electrical music love!
Yes, please! I couldn't imagine playing a new BC:R game without his talent.

Honestly, I still don't get the extreme hatred people seem to have towards BC3D.
I have no extreme hatred for the game, I just simply don't like it (particularly, the storyline). And I too was eager for Bionic Commando "IN 3-D!", but it just simply failed to deliver.

It's like back when Castlevania came out for the N64... *insert absurd rant here*. It worked for some, not so well for others.

Thinking about the jumping mechanics, I am not sure how to feel about this. I will most likely have to wait and see this in action before judging to see if it removes that Bionic feeling and challenge I had from the first game (both remake and old).
...not too sure what to think of this, either. *hopes for the best*

Not go off-topic, but, yeah, Deadly Premonition really needs a European release. There is a rumor going that Rising Star Games will release it this summer, but nothing confirmed yet (my guess is that any delay might be a result of them cleaning it up a bit + M5-ing it. The English assets in Ignition's work are absolutely atrociously bad... just like most of their other localization efforts have been).

Anyway, at least the "request a game" thread on RSG's forums is almost entirely made out of Deadly Premonition requests now and there's a 4 page long (iirc) thread for the game there too now (with more people crying out for it.)

That's a nice touch from Might and delight on this. Glad they are wishing the dev well on the front. But speaking of great hits, I want to play Deadly premonition so much, and I never will since of no Europe release around to show at all (the only fix I have been getting is Giant Bomb's Jeffs walkthrough. The game looks spectacular and I mean this in every way possible on this Earth.). To not have this over here is a crime against humanity.

Yes. I'm still a pure blooded gamer!

It was a game I waited for to happen since the 32-bit generation went head on into the world of 3D. Of course it's big business (to me, anyway!)

Like, to the point where I'd like to once more say that so far this gen, there's only a handful of games I feel like have done things (on the gameplay side of things) entirely right and haven't just felt like re-hashes of stuff that's already been done and played before (or just hilariously stupefied to the point where calling them a game is like calling a VHS-tape of a Wheel of Fortune broadcast an interactive experience.)

    Spoiler:

Only worry I have about the jumping is the way it probably requires shuffling and remapping of buttons on the controller. Rearmed used 3 face buttons (Shoot, Wire and Grenades + right analog for remote controlled rocket movement). If I've hit the nail on the head with my quick trailer analysis, then it's a very restricted jump feature (think Castlevania/Ghosts&Goblins-ish)

Also, Simon Viklund's doing the soundtrack if we're to believe the press release for the game.

All new musical score inspired by NES-era sound effects, produced by the same creative mind behind the original Bionic Commando Rearmed soundtrack.
Also, Might and Delight has a nice little "We're not doing BC:R2" announcement

Carn, it sounds as if you're going to go go bionic meltdown! You should relax when it comes to people's opinions about Bionic Commando 3D. Your above comment sounds as if the game was your only love child, seeing this lovely child being taken away by the child adoption agency! I think you must have some inner justice or conviction when it comes to this game. Perhaps you should just ignore people’s opinions/comments on the game.

Honestly, I still don't get the extreme hatred people seem to have towards BC3D. It's as if it killed someone's family member or something... and it's almost always some minor detail(s) people pick on when they trash talk it (with the exception of those who're entirely alienated by the freedom of movement and run around on the ground all the time as if they were still in Gears of War-land )

Anyway, let's not pollute this thread with hatred! We're getting a new Bionic Commando: Rearmed game here, guys!
