^ If you really wanted to know, the game came out in Japan over a month ago and the cutscenes and info you would need to find that out are already all over the internet. I'm on lockdown, though. I don't wanna know about anything. All I know about the game is that Militaires Sans Frontieres are 'employed' by the Costa Rican government, and 'Mother Base' is the basis for Outer Heaven.
I only hope we see a sort of degradation of Big Boss, leading into the Big Boss we see in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, the 'evil' guy(depending on the point of view) who's hell-bent on waging war for the rest of time. That, and I bet we'll see a lot of references to Major Zero and Big Boss's hatred for him, with the game being set 2 years after the Les Enfants Terribles project, and after he left the Patriots.

6 days left, my comrade.Originally posted by ChrisRedfield29 View PostOne week 'til I start Peace Walkin'. I can't wait. Everything I've read from people who imported the game so far has been very encouraging. Some call it the best Metal Gear game since MGS1, most call it the best game the PSP has to offer. Variable play-times clock in anywhere from 20-60 hours to complete the game.
I've been busy with work and other shit going on in my life, so I almost completely forgot about Peace Walker...but it's back on my radar now, with full force. I'll be picking it up on Day 1 and playing it til my thumbs bleed.

MGS: Peace Walker Possibly Coming to PSN/PS3
GamePro contributor Ben PerLee noted this during his "Peace Walker Bootcamp experience":
"So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game. Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer."
It's noted that this is not an unusual question to ask of media tester types, but the article also points out that "the Konami representative asking the questions actually wrote down the answers," and this is an oddity.

Sure but this is the biggest PSP (perhaps mobile) game of the year, you'd think it would have every bell and whistle that the PSP is capable of. I know Japan is more keen for personal MP but the fact that MGS players all around the world are unable to play campaign missions together is a really disappointing fact; I don't know if they "really" lacked the funds or the experience of network codes though I'm not saying it'll ruin the game at all, just that it's a really major missed opportunity.Originally posted by Member_of_STARS View PostSo far the experiments have failed, but personally Im all in favour of developers using advertising to get additional revenue if they use it for patches and support. Im actually more in favour of ads than actual silly concept of DLC which is already abused.Last edited by BBboy20; 04-29-2010, 09:32 PM.

You should, they are great games. The ads in Chaos Theory felt severely out of place. Theres a scene where you have a view on a city in its night-shine-life and theres this huge Ubisoft zeppelin flying around. Or how every computer had AMD64 as their screen savers. Theres a few coke cans and the cellphones. The game was crammed with ads and they were positioned and lighted in a way you would immediately notice them, and they certainly didnt fit in.Originally posted by TheSelfishGene View PostI've never played Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, but I assume that the ads are contextualised and unobtrusive. When you have cans of cola and chips in the jungle, and anachronisms such as ads for deoderant and magazines that weren't in existence in the period the game was set.
Did it create immersion? No. And they didnt break it. They didnt make the game better or worse. The placement has to be creative, or intrusive, to get a reaction. But in almost all cases, it has no effect on games quality or the fun factor.
And play Splinter Cell. Because Michael Ironside is awesome.

Oh, I think Metal Gear series is tripe, because I've never had fun playing any of the games in the series.Originally posted by Member_of_STARS View PostWhats wrong with product placement? And since when does product placement make a game into "tripe"?
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is full of it, yet its one of the greatest games out there and definitely the top stealth game. Sam Fisher uses a Nokia cellphone in Double Agent. So do I. COINCIDENCE????
For all we know, PW might deserve the 40/40. Its certainly a massive project on a handheld console. Certainly beats the average-to-shit games which get far more publicity, hype and absolutely unwarranted reviews/scores in Western internet outlets.

To me, advertising like this shows a lack of respect for the consumer. And the justification was that the placement was to 'surprise' gamers.
I don't think advertising like this ads anything to the experience, no matter what Kojima says his intentions were.
The real issue isn't what I think of the ads, or what I think of the games. There's a huge conflict of interest here, and people like Dark Chris are happy to gloss over it and defend journalism like this.
Although I don't enjoy Metal Gear games, I'm not oblivious to the critical acclaim that they recieve either. And indeed, Peace Walker my merit a perfect review score - but it will never get an unbiased review from Famitsu.
And as far as I know, that's the only review score that's been released at the moment (except for Dark Chris' review too of course). When more reviews come it'll show this to be either an inflated score, or an unnecessary mar on the games valid perfect score.
