So I finally got the 'true' ending to the game...
Spoiler:
Can't believe Paz was working for Zero this whole fuckin' time. The convo between Big Boss and Miller on the helipad of MSF leads me to think that there'll be another sequel or two in the future. After all, there are still 21 years between Peace Walker and Metal Gear.
I enjoyed the ending, definitely got some chills. Paz rambled on about how 'Cipher' aka Zero wanted to create a world controlled by electronics...aka The Patriots...to put an end to the Cold War. A world where ideologies didn't matter and everything was under one umbrella. Outer Heaven wasn't really The Boss's will after all...it was an escape from Zero's attempt to control everything.
I really liked the post-credits soundbyte this time around. Big Boss talking to all of his soldiers:
"We will forsake our countries. We will leave our motherlands behind us and become one with this earth. We have no nation, no philosophy, no ideology. We go where we're needed, fighting not for country, not for government, but for ourselves. We need no reason to fight, we fight because we are needed. We will be the deterrent for those with no other recourse.
We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. We will sometimes have to sell ourselves, and services. If the times demand it, we'll be revolutionaries, criminals...terrorists. And yes, we may all be headed straight to hell. But what better place for us than this? It is our only home. Our heaven, and our hell.
This...is Outer Heaven."
All the talk before this of how they were going to be 'hunted' by everyone in the world because they chose sides in the Peace Walker debacle only leads me to believe that there will be another sequel. Like I said, with an intro like that plus 21 years of free time to fill up, I doubt we've seen the last of Big Boss.
Another nice touch: the timeline before the credits. I liked how it ended with:
2005: Miller is found assassinated in his home by an unknown assailant.
Nice nod to MGS1, and even more confirmation of who 'Kaz' really was, even though it was blatantly obvious.

I really didn't gel with Peace Walker, it's okay sure but on the whole I find it's one of the weakest in the Metal Gear series.
Don't get angry - it's just an opinion - but believe me no-one is more unhappy with the final mark than I am, and I absolutely adore this series.

So after beating the main story of Peace Walker, one thing is very clear to me: Kojima really hated Portable Ops. San Hieronymo was mentioned once, there were no appearances by Campbell or Null or pretty much anybody from MPOSpoiler:
. This game felt like a truly direct sequel to MGS3.including Ocelot, surprisingly
Plot discussion:
Spoiler:
This game was really a standalone title, wrapping up Big Boss's obsession with The Boss and leading him towards becoming the character we saw in MG and MG2. The post-credits conversation with Miller was crucial in this one, as we saw the beginning of Big Boss's degradation. He took The Boss's "defection" as a betrayal of her life as a soldier, and in turn, a betrayal of him.
"She betrayed me, Kaz. In the end, she put down her gun. And when she did, she rejected her entire life up to that point...including me. In giving up her life, she abandoned everything she was as a soldier. I won't make the same choice as her. My future is going to be different. Yeah, that's right. From now on...call me Big Boss."
/chills
Know what I liked most about this one? No retconning. MPO pissed me off with how they turned Gray Fox from simply an exemplary soldier into another genetic freak. This game steered clear from that. It was its own game, and for that, it was better.
The Peace Walker fights were awesome. Definitely one of the best 'Metal Gear' boss battles in the series, whether it was on two legs or four. The only thing that sketched me out a little bit was the whole bit with butterflies exploding out of the Mammal Pod and The Boss's persona(?) taking it into her own hands to sink Peace Walker and save the world...again. That was, a little weird...but nothing nearly as weird as I've seen in this series.
Overall, a 9/10, and the best game the PSP has to offer. Now that the main story is done, there are a TON of Extra Ops to finish, plus I need to assemble Metal Gear ZEKE, send soldiers out all over the world, continue to develop weaponry...basically, build Outer Heaven. Fuck yeah.

well I expecting to play as a human Raiden for the first part of the game, because I think Rising is situated between MGS2 and MGS4
In the first part you will be saving Sunny from the PATRIOTS as a human Raiden, then in the second part of the game Raiden will be recreated as a ninja Raiden in the Area 51. After his escape he will meet with Big Mama and saving for her bodies of Big Boss and Solidus
nice theory hey
..... all right maybe not

Guest repliedHaha looks like Raiden couldn't stand just using a sword. Something tells me enemies won't just be regular soldiers anymore since you are controlling a ninja for mgs5/rising.

Umm, what the hell is he holding? What is that on the ground in front of him? And why does he have Crying Wolf's railgun on his back? WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS GAME? E3 better bring some answers as far as Rising is concerned.
Anyway, yeah, Peace Walker's probably one of the best, if not the best game I've played this year(...probably better than Red Dead Redemption and God of War III). Yeah, it's THAT good, folks. Portable gameplay has never been this deep and refined. The story is 'ehh' so far, but I'm not that far into it. It'll pick up eventually, though. I have no doubt.
