Biohazard Outbreak: Japanese Server Players

Since last year. It's the first thing I worked on once the File 1 servers closed. I wouldn't still be playing File 2 with the awful new ad libs. I've posted about this already on bioflames but nobody cared.Originally posted by biohazard_star View PostI was aware that the ad-lib system was different for every region, what I didn't know was that someone was already able to replace the crappy File 2 voices with the ones from File 1.
I'm gonna be done with my extra work tomorrow, so I can help you guys out.Last edited by The_15th; 03-08-2009, 05:08 PM.

Yes, it's how I play. The over the top file 2 voices grate on my nerves.
Use XPert to decompile LBA table. Then just switch the adlibs in ASFExplorer 3.7 one at a time. Be careful, you can't exceed the total bit allocation for each folder which is much lower in file 2 or it'll break the game. A good way is to replace all the mid adlibs for NPCs that are in the game:Linda, Rita, Marvin etc with dummy files. Then you recompile the whole thing with XPert, rebuild the table and it should work. Be sure to select the annoying trumpet sound in XPert, the program won't work if you pick NO SOUND.
You can expand the ad lib allocation size, but it's pretty tricky, I haven't figured out what makes it break or not. If the intro movies don't show up, it means you've corrupted your game and need to hack it again.

I don't know if the US edition had English subtitles, but the PAL versions had foreign language subtitles, and bizzarely, in some parts they were WAY off.
I guess they translated the actual Japanese for all the languages that are standard in PAL games, including English, when they could have just transcribed the vocal work.sigpic

In the NTSC U/C versions, they weren't translations, nor do I think they were supposed to be, like you said most had absolutely nothing to do with what the character actually said.Originally posted by TheSelfishGene View PostI don't know if the US edition had English subtitles, but the PAL versions had foreign language subtitles, and bizzarely, in some parts they were WAY off.

For example, Alyssa might say:
Audio: "Hey!...wait up!"
Text Below: :"First, zombies...now, bitchy women"
You get that one if you ad-lib near the beginning of BFP for example.(refering to Monica I'm guessing)

Spoiler:
More on this soon, hopefully. It all depends on Meg cracking some encryption, then a full translation can be done and played online.
Can't you just adjust the sizes and essentially create a new asf archive?Originally posted by The_15th View PostBe careful, you can't exceed the total bit allocation for each folder which is much lower in file 2 or it'll break the game.Last edited by Dot50Cal; 03-29-2009, 05:50 AM.

A little news on the translation front. Check-able background stuff is finished. Files are also done. Scenario specific items (the main concern) are also ok. Ad-libs are also fine.
The ones giving me issues are the everyday items and SP items. I may just have to skip those if the problems persist.
I would also like to remove the Japanese text that appears on cutscenes, and if thats just ripping from an image then I can probably fix that.

Can't wait to see the final build.
