  • Chance for Outbreak to be ported to XBL/PSN?

There's talk of Resident Evil Outbreak/Biohazard being re-released for Xbox live/PSN. However, the fans need to let Capcom know how much we'd like this to happen or they just won't bother! So far we have almost 100k views and a few hundred replies in just a matter of 2 weeks, this is exactly how the fans got MvC 2 released.. we can do it for Outbreak if we all band together! There's a campaign going on over at the ask Capcom forum, with hopes that they will take notice and re-release the game. Just go here, sign up quickly and post in the topic! Any attention/support it gets to prove to Capcom that there is still loyal fans that love this series is exactly what we need.

    Thanks in advance!

I'll give this one a thumbs up. I bought both Outbreak titles about 2-3 month before the server shut down so I never got my fill of the game online. They just sit on my shelf now.

I'm going to go do this right now!

Been dying to play a Resident Evil game online, I have RE5 but that isn't the same.

There are not currently any PS2 titles downloadable from the PlayStation Store...so I doubt that Outbreak would be very high on the list of first-on-the-shelf if they ever do go through with adding PS2 titles, no matter how many signatures you get.

I'd be up for this is they got rid of the horrible loading times (especially in the 1st one) made the game nearly unplayable for me, plus us UK'ers never got 1 online

            This...

            and...

I'll save Sven some time by saying that yes more RE is never a bad thing but officially there is nothing planned for the Outbreak series at this time.
This. I also think this rather shoots down the idea of OB3 being the PSP title.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 was ported due to high fan demand, plus that Mod only posted saying there was no plans before the thread got that many replies/views - since then none of the mods have posted. Sven could've easily replied and said it's not going to be released but he hasn't. I can only hope they're considering it?

Considering this series was written off years ago, it's good to see it still has a massive amount of fans and is the main talking point on that forum. Surely they can't ignore this? Let's not forget that that topic has only been open for 2 weeks.

Even if they don't give it us as a download, they could just combine both games and release it. Add a few achievements and some DLC and I think it'd sell very well!

And yet the games have been out for years, and since the PS3 and 360 have been out, people have been asking for ports/releases. What makes you think that a thread up for two weeks will sway them, when I have no doubt others have posted the exact same request in the past?

I got these games WAY after the servers closed. I want to know what it'd be like xD

Because this is the most attention this game has EVER had on that forum. If nobody shows any interest in this being ported then there's no chance Capcom would even consider it. You can look in the topic history on there and see a few OB threads with like 7 replies and 100 views..not much really, compared to the latest one anyway. The more attention we give the game, the more likely it is that Capcom would consider re-releasing it or giving us a file 3.

I understand entirely where you're coming from, though. I just like to think there's a real chance they would listen this time and revive the Outbreak series for us fans some way or other!

                        A Moderator just posted this;

"I wouldn't say that. Maybe it has something to do with sales, who knows. All I can say is don't lose hope & keep posting/requesting unless they give you a definitive no."

Sounds like a good idea but at the time it seems that capcom is interested in other projects and will probably release this when they are looking to make a quick buck. Problem is that could be years away. The thought of playing RE online is great but I not getting my hopes up.

Inside a future Sony Computer Entertainment meeting

"...alright, now, onto the PlayStation Network. We're on fire. We have lots of great games out there, lots of great exclusives. Fat Princess has reviewed wonderfully, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 has sold well, PS1 Classics such as Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII have been as popular as they were a decade ago, and there's only more great things to come in the future. Today, the board has finally made the decision you and many of our fans have been waiting for -- we're going to start digitally distributing PlayStation 2 titles on the PlayStation Store!"

                            *gasp, shock, awe, applause*

"Great idea, sir! The loyal Sony fanboys will love this. What games are you thinking about first? God of War? ICO? Shadow of The Colossus? Final Fantasy X? Metal Gear Solid 2? Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Vice City? Resident Evil 4? Oh! How about God of War 2, or SOCOM II, or one of the Prince of Persia titles?"

"No, Johnson. No. Why sell the most popular, best-selling and highest-rated games? That's preposterous. We have to go with the minority here. We have to go with the thousands of fans of an online-based game that focused on teamwork and simultaneously did not support voice chat. I was thinking...RESIDENT EVIL: OUTBREAK."

                            "..."

                            "Didn't you read the petition?"

Capcom's certainly known to reply to fan requests, that's for sure. But... even those 100 000 views aren't exactly 100 000 unique views. Skimming through the topic I see mostly posts by the same users, all whom I can safely bet are refreshing the thread several times a day (and depending on their forum setup, each one of these refreshes counts as a new "click/hit")

Cut it down to unique hits and you might find yourself down on 100 again

Anyway, keep it going. Who knows, in a few years, maybe something would come out of it.
