  • You have an extremely good point, and the problem for me with File 2 is, if you're offline, which you have to be now, I've never had the chance to play online, the levels are EXTREMELY difficult even on Hard. Worse than Very Hard, on File 1. File 2's levels are hard because of the lack of teamwork since your AIs are a bunch of retards.

    They
    A) Stand next to you ALWAYS, pick the worst weapons, and never fight. Or
    B) Steal the BEST weapons, and run away from you, accomplishing nothing. At least in File 1 when David and Alyssa went AWOL on me, they made up for it by bringing me plot/level items!

File 1 could be played online or offline. File 2 RELIES on someone to come and save you if you get bit by a zombie, since two or three bites makes you hit the ground.

As for voices, those were a big problem for me. In File 2 they got a bit distracting. I didn't notice many differences, but Cindy, Jim, and David really got to me. As if Cindy and Jim-my-life-is-shit couldn't get any worse, they did. "Somebody HELP me."

I almost prefer David's 'Rorschach' voice to his dull(REALLY dull) one in File 2. Neither was good, but I'm more inclined to prefer a sound-a-like of the voice of an insane epic vigilante than...some guy. Sure File 2 had more cutscenes/lines and his voice there is more believeable, but you've got a badass-normal guy with a normal guy's voice, it doesn't work so much here.

And to be quite honest, all of the character's voices in File 2 did this imo. These are normal everyday people in a zombie outbreak. Wake up voice actors, emote more. David-the-stoic is one case, but Geroge, Kevin, Cindy, everyone else sounded bored.

I myself prefer EotR to Decisions Decisions. You went to a few different places, but had to figure out where the hell you were. I kept getting lost with the two 'kill Mr. X or not' paths you could take when meeting up with Linda. If this wasn't bad enough you've got snipers, landmines, mutated Mr. X, helicopter time limit, zombies, and Nyx to deal with. The character epilogues here were much more satisfying too. Everyone separately, after Raccoon City. It makes me wonder where everyone is and what they're doing. God I would love it if one or more than one of them actually came back and got involved in the main plot. *Only in my dreams*

      • File 2 is better game wise because it is more polished. File 1, despite it's many flaws, has a bit more ambiance and the voice acting is much more professional which gives it more warmth imo. File 2 voices make laugh out loud, they are too over the top.

        • the voice in file 2 fits kinda and i bet everyone of us who played it online for a longtime they kinda grew on us and was just a part of the awsome game so i never really had anything against the voices in outbreak file 2

          • The bulbs in flashback *had* to be killed in a certain order (and you follow a specific path).
Not if you played online, an iron pipe and a half breaks the 203 door and there's 2 syringes behind it. This isn't so offline.

Tackling the Leech Queen online is possible, but offline, I think there are leeches in the water in front of her. Offline is really nasty.

You can tackle or kick the elephant to death, but it takes 40 minutes. Tackling Dorothy to death takes about 1 200 hits. These have been done on youtube. 6:25 into this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1zhDHtwZHY 0:56 into this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCIYT4kdF1A

I meant that, last time I checked, you can't access one bulb without killing the one before it
For example, on easy and normal, the path to the roof is locked, and the path to the key is behind the first bulb (basement). You can't get to the third bulb on the second floor until the you create the hole on the roof (by killing the second bulb).
In hard and VH, the order's different (I can't seem to remember how it went at the moment), but IIRC it was still linear.

EDIT: wait is 203 the door with the 3rd bulb?

              No there isn't

Maybe you're thinking File 2 showdown (they made the leech harder in that one) =/

This more or less reinforces my point which was that File 2 isn't as no-weapon friendly as File 1.
It's not so much as a "wah it's too hard complaint" but back when there was online. People love point hoarding. Why do minimal damage when you can sit back and let everyone else do the work and net yourself 2x the points?

              • Speaking of Showdown, are the final bosses (Nyx and Thanatos) impossible in offline Showdown? Oo I've tried literally every item in the field and brought the best items with me, they won't DIE.

Thanatos goes down with enough damage. IIRC, if you use the auto-target when he's facing you you'll aim for his heart (which does more damage).

Nyx: just keep hitting the core. Camera makes it painful but I don't know what else to say =/

You can online, not many people know about it, including Japanese players.

That and the unsynchronised timers are the two things I hate about File 1. I often did my best to blow up a gas tank on those players or I'd just quit at the boss fight LOL.

Thanatos: Use the knife to his heart. He takes forever to die, he has 5 times the health as he had online. If you hit him 3 times, he will get into a jumping loop where you can hit him once, let him jump, dodge him and repeat for like minutes. It will chain like that until he hits you or you avoid attacking him.

NYX: Hit the Tyrant's face or his claw. (I'm never sure, it seems to change with lag) either target will open up his core. This is important, because hitting his wide open core's how he practically ever takes damage. If you're down to knifing, once it takes 8 slashes to his thight to make him fall over, you're almost done!

I don't know how to beat the last Mr Xs except be lucky enough to have one at a time attack me. LOL I still make sure I can have at least one noob or partner til the end so I can use them as meatshields.

                    • Thanks you guys, I'll try it again.

They just seem to be so much harder than they were in DD and EotR.

Yes but it's a good idea to keep all the Outbreak support in one thread, plus the last Outbreak thread in "Ask Capcom" got locked so...

                            • He's asking the question IN THAT PARTICULAR THREAD. So evidently, they'd be expecting mentions of other games in there. It's obviously not going to do any harm using that one as well.
