Besides the intro/factory saying "September 28...Daylight" they did a piss poor take on having anything daylight before the RPD. Everything looked more night than anything.

A similar concept was used in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.Originally posted by Rick Hunter View PostIt's very interesting, but it would also mean that each background would appear twice in the disk data.
The first part of the game (up until you enter the RPD) took place during daylight, after you left the RPD it was night, and all the backgrounds up to this point were changed to reflect this.
I'd say it's not unlikely that a similar approach was used for 1.5's RPD backgrounds.

Only a few, not that many.

I think that the "blue" and "red" versions of RE1.5 are just misunderstanding - or lack of informations at the time.Originally posted by Rick Hunter View PostWhat I'd like to put my hands on someday is the "blue" version. I don't understand why they changed the colors and made it look "normal" after a few builds. These blue environements made the atmosphere very special.
Capcom first advertised RE1.5 by showing "blue" pictures/videos; they were all from the RPD. Then they showed the "red" pictures/videos from the burning lab. Finally they showed us "normal" pictures and videos. Back in the days, I remember speaking of the "blue period" and the "red period" of the game in SurvivHor, a joke/reference to Picasso
The electricity is turned off in the RPD, hence the blue mood. After turning the electricity back on (obviously after solving one or several puzzles) the backgrounds turn back to "normal" colors. My point is that Capcom planned this puzzle (electricity off then on) since the beginning of the development of RE1.5. There is no "color versions" and they didn't change their mind. They just keep releasing more and more information and footage about the game.
But I agree, I would like to find the first (?) RE1.5 beta too; the one where they used Chris' 3D model for Leon and where the RPD's lobby was slightly different than the one they used in the final beta.

Guest repliedYeah I knew they were very close together, thanks for confirming. I heard rumours dotting about that the Complete Disc build had some minor differences like backgrounds being slightly more complete, although I can't confirm any of that obviously, I think I read in on the BioFlames forum ages ago when people were analysing photos against existing footage, I guess people generally assumed the Comlplete Disc was the true "final" build.Originally posted by Alzaire View PostThe complete disc build and the Bioflames one are both pretty much the same build. If there are differences, they are very minor. Still from the same Era.
My intentions were not to spread rumours so I apologise if I'm making assumptions, I'm just repeating conclusions made by others from previous discussions across forums... I think people agreed though that the PSM build is no more than 60% complete and is likely to be closer to 50% complete considering it's lack of voice acting and lack of sound effects in certain rooms, although again that's just peoples conclusions based on the evidence available.Originally posted by Rick Hunter View PostThese kind of numbers are not relevant. And there are probably many more versions. The playstation museum build was already very advanced and representative of the final game, it was pretty much a beta version.

Guest repliedIf you're speaking of that sewer room that looks like the bridge from the pool of RE2 retail.Originally posted by chrisliam2 View Postwhat build was the game with leon shooting baby gators in an unfinished room ?
It's in the final build of 1.5.

Guest repliedCan you describe the unfinished room you're thinking of? I vaguely remember watching gameplay videos of unfinished rooms from when I first started looking up 1.5 a few years ago but I can no longer find the videos I'm thinking of. I question if they were even 1.5 now but I could swear it was. If you're description of the room matches my description then I know we're thinking of the same footage which either no longer exists on the Internet or has nothing to do with the known builds of 1.5. I'd like to think it was the former but it's likely to be the latter.Originally posted by chrisliam2 View Postwhat build was the game with leon shooting baby gators in an unfinished room ?

I know people are excited about this little development, but I already have my hands full with other projects.
The footage above is from Resident Evil 1.5. That video posted by the OP is a teaser for a Resident Evil 2 documentary that I am working on and I uploaded it weeks ago to keep everyone in check.
The documentary will cover the history behind everything concerning the game, from it's conception to its struggles, to its restarted development (such as the case with RE2), to it's release, and even the popularity of Resident Evil 1.5 and beyond. I'm making it ambitious as it can be, with class and objectivity. As I have mentioned before I also have some exclusive material to feature for this documentary. For said material, as a student journalist, I must practice and commit to the importance of not unveiling my sources or my method of obtaining this footage or anything related to my project at this time.
Thank you all for your interest though. I hope to release Episode 2 of Shat-Canned Legends (Resident Evil 2) at some point after Episode 1 (MOTHER 3 / EarthBound 64).
