I'm not gonna read a 10 paragraph response to a comment I made about a video game, no offense.

Im boycotting MW2 on PC, so I havent played it, although Ive kept my eye on the issue since day one.

Im one of the people who would abuse the system if I could (no glitching, or exploitation of games technical flaws, no cheating, though), I have done it in every multiplayer game Ive played. And the simple fact is that unless youre a better player than I am (in general terms, as an example), or are more efficient at what I do, you stand no chance. The inbalances in perks and weapons is going to become more severe with time as the skill level of players increases.

Using specific techniques in BF2, I could win games against the entire 32 man opposing team, without firing a single shot. Inbalanced weapons and techniques, not originally intended by the developers will break the game once more dedicated or talented gamers start abusing the system "to the max".

The difference in attention to balance, between two games, is colossal.

And yeah, I see youre also a firm believer in the "STFU and get over it / adapt and overcome" attitude, trust me, I am too. But when I game turns into a battle of who can exploit its shortcomings better than others, the whole idea of "choice" between all those perks and gear becomes obselete.

Which is why COD4 was such a great success. The balance between perks and weapons lead up to a point when an interesting observation was made in 2007. The forums (for PC communities for COD4) had no topics/threads about weapon inbalance. This is unheard of since 2004 when I first stepped into the scene.

But anyway, I havent even skimmed the surface on whats going on in the PC version of MW2. Im assuming youre not a PC gamer, so you may not know how the games work. The difference between a "dedicated server" and "P2P matchmaking" means that the players will no longer have control over who and when visits their server, which is immensely important on PC because of-

    A) Ease of typing (cant kick/ban people for inappropriate behaviour)
    B) Ease of cheating (cant kick people for exploits/ cheating)

Right now, people are reporting an average of one "gamebreaking cheater" in every 4th game (gamebreaking would mean that theres nothing you can do about him, or against him).

The way VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) works is that it collects all offenders and issues a collective ban every couple of weeks/months. Which means that during that time, theres nothing to stop a cheater or someone behaviourally challenged to play at any time, anywhere.

Theres of course a number of other issues, but the basic gist is. PC gamers got handed a severely inferior option to play MW2 in multiplayer mode. The game as a whole is not on par with COD4 and the developers have been ignoring the community for months now.

[EDIT] If you care for a reading and are genuinely interested in whats going on, without having to swim through IW forums, I could throw down a post of somesort. But I would like this conversation to stay away from "Adapt and overcome" lectures, met with accusations and insults over how someone plays their game, as these conversations usually go down that path.

Use your eyes to see them coming?? I dunno man. Equip thermal sights and heartbeat sensors if that doesn't work. I'm just saying, I typically get them far before they get me. Maybe it's because I just snipe.

IW forums have been a massive mess ever since 402 came out with the news that there were no dedicated servers planned for MW2, and it sparked a shit-storm I have never, ever seen anywhere on the net, when it comes to videogames. What made matters worse, was several issues that followed- IW/ACT basically stopped giving out any real news about the game and 402 now only communicated to COD fanbase via twitter (not the official forums). The forums are littered with people complaining their heads out, more and more as time passes, with no answer from any IW-s representatives. And my own personal favourite, a little off the main issue- but apparently theres a wallhack/aimbot in development for the PS3, which starts the beginning of a major change in how console multiplayer gaming will look like in the future.

To give you a comparitive example, not even the tazed kid got as much media publicity.

Quite honestly, as a videogamer, what happened in October-through-December has been one of the most important events in modern videogame history which long term effects now depend solely on how BFBC2 release will go.
I came across this personally, yes. I played a copy of MW2 on the PC for a bit and noticed all of that.

    Oh, and:

    Yeah, there's one.

COD4 is inferior but still... at least it was somewhat enjoyable most of the time.
You said it all, my friend. Hence why I haven't played the game online in over a week. I got a bunch of fun new games for Christmas that don't make me grind my teeth or want to pull my hair out from the faggotry that goes on. MW2 is really fun sometimes, but most of the time it's just fucking frustrating in so many ways.

Hate to pull the "I have better things to do them play MW2 online" card but seriously, doesn't anyone find the whole kill/die/respawn grind of an online FPS both dull or monotonous?
I'd second that idea for any online based game *which includes WoW which I do play daily but once you've figured out the cheats, glitch points, and where not to get hit which everyone does in MW2 or any FPS, surely the game just becomes irritable right?*

MW2 IS ON SALE ALREADY. WHAT!!!1111!121one

Disturbing, really. They make over 300 million dollars in sales, and at one store, it's already down to 40 dollars.

After a couple weeks of its release. Ah, I knew not buying right away was good. Activision can now blow me as I don't end up paying them 60 dollars.

    Target: http://www.target.com/Call-Duty-Mode...are%202&page=1

20 dollars slashed off original price.

    GameStop: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/prod...spx?sku=200665

    10 bucks off original price.

    Walmart: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=11038615

    10 dollars off here too.

    Best Buy:

    Still full price. Hmm...

Now, you're probably thinking it's too good to be true, right?
Almost. Online orders, these prices apply. They still vary at their actual stores, however. There's always a catch. But nonetheless...

Why a few weeks after release? The demand dropped for it now, and they STILL need money? Now that's a funny thought.

I don't use a mic at all and I never played CD4 online and I found MW2 multiplayer to be amazingly fun and easy to get into and easy to dominate my enemies consistently.

Ive experience a few glitches recently. The first was an 18 players Gree For All match lol it was so hectic but also so much more fun than the normal 8 v 8. The second wass an unlimited ammo glitch in S&D which was hilarious! all any one did was constantly noob tube and spam grenades! it was hilarious!.

While we're on the subject, I fucking hate those people who run around with Marathon Pro, Lightweight Pro and Commando Pro with their Akimbo bullshit, knifing people. I don't know how many times I've put 5-6 bullets into one of those little bitches but they're still able to knife me from 10 feet away because of that Commando bullshit. Akimbo and Commando are definitely my two most-hated additions to MW2.
