Yes, well, I'm not talking about the earlier games. I'm not talking about the TRUE Resident Evil. Sure that Claire, and that Nemesis are better.

Yes, Alice knows Kung Fu. Alice has telekinesis. Alice is super strong. Alice is under the effects of a virus...

Leon dives out the second story windows. Dodges laser beams, and dynamite, by backflipping. Is never even emotionally FLINCHED by anything that's going on around him. And wait... Leon is supposed to be... Only human, right? Or is Gaiden canon all of a sudden, and is Leon actually a BOW in disguise?

Leon gets spiked through nearly every pore in his body and simply grabs his stomach like he has to go to the bathroom. Wtf.

Well, Jill can take an anti-tank rocket missile in the face and survive that and I don't see anyone complain about that.

Leon sees this giant plant-based monstrosity explode from a wall, and his reaction is "*scoff* Monsters. I guess after this there'll be one less to worry about." What the hell?

Chris sees Tyrant for the first time and says "This is your savior? You say this failure is your savior?"
Claire is about to shot Mr. X with a rocket launcher: "You lose big guy!".
RE2 Leon sees a big blob with tentacles entrance the train: "Now that what I call ugly."
Claire after the fight with Tyrant on the plane in CODE: Veronica: "Oh [that was] nothing, just a giant cockroach that had to be stepped on."

The point is, whether you like it or not, RE games are full of stupid one-liners and characters that aren't really scared to fight with big ugly monsters. :/

BiohazardEX has, calmly and rationally, stated why he prefers the movies and while I don't agree myself I do respect the thought he has given things and agree with him on several points. And in the end, it's his opinion. You insult him again and I'll go back, count all those little petty insults, and slap them on you all at once. Should be good for a two week ban in terms of infraction points.

As for Extinction...the idea of a post apocolyptic world isn't far fetched, it really isn't. But the way they did it, turning it into Mad Max for no good reason, was not the way to go. As EX says, there are plenty of reasons why the virus could escape the city over the course of, well, at least a couple of weeks from Outbreak to Nuking. Same with the mansion...hell, we know monsters has escaped the Mansion before it was destroyed.

But the killing off of all plant life was just stupid. Yes, the T-Virus can infect plants. But how did it get transported to every single plant ever? Zombies don't go munching plants. I've never spotted a zombie looking at the red herbs with an intruiged gleam in there eye. To realistically infect all plant life the virus had to go airborne...which means everyone would be dead. The Ivy's were an experiment and Plant 42 was unusual, but since we don't see trees attacking us in the Courtyard of the Mansion or the park in RE3 I think it's safe to say that plants being infected, while possible, are unusual. The only way I can see it happening is if huge ammounts of T-Virus somehow ended up in every source of water avaialble, maybe by dead zombies in the rivers and oceons, but the numbers required to infect all plant life in two years...

And, of course, the survivors couldn't drink for any water source anywhere.

But my main issue is the Alice character. She's too powerful, too strong, too perfect to make an effective plot point. You know perfectly well she'll manage because she is far, far superior to other people. Even in the first movie she's got an unholy level of skill and training. Now she's just completely unstoppable.

And the little plot points, like ripping off Day of the Dead, the amazing container full of zombie things and the fact that no one can spot T-Virus infection two years after the outbreak, even those there from right at the start...it just makes the movie a real chore for me to watch.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a video of the scene where Leon falls through Salazar's trap door, where he defies the laws of gravity to keep himself from being impaled on a bunch of spikes. Let's see, first he is surprised by the floor opening up beneath him...then as he falls, he regains his composure to deploy a grappling hook from his belt, in the opposite direction of his freefall. Now, I only took calculus-based physics in college, so maybe there was some sort of advanced anti-gravitational formulas that I am not aware of or was never exposed to, but Leon throws the grappling hook up (against the gravitational pull of his body mass...should I even state how physically impossible it would be for him to manage a swinging motion?). The hook manages to travel upwards faster than his descent, and the hook catches onto a ledge or something. His fall is immediately stopped - without tearing the belt from his clothing or breaking his spine (if his belt managed to hold, which it wouldn't) - and he is safe and full of his senses & composure. He was descending at an increasingly accelerating speed, and came to an immediate stop. His body would have been wrecked, to say the least.

And no... If you actually READ, that's not what I said at all. I don't know why I have to repeat myself. I said that it would've been a more logical choice for the game to go in the direction of a post apocalyptic zombie invasion, than "Umbrella's gone, and all is well."

And hey, your opinion is your opinion. But I'd rather watch the movies than play RE4 any day. They're more true to what Resident Evil is really about.

I'd rather see an army of Alices than one Leon. At least the movies don't affect the storyline. Like Bio said, it's like the director's rendition of the series. It has nothing to do with the games, therefore it can't hurt them.

Turn the RE series into an action/horror movie, and it's absolute and total heresy.

But you know another thing I liked about Extinction? I honestly think it went the right way. The way the game should've went, in the long run.
Let's look at it realistically... T-Virus infects insects, plants and birds... The Raccoon City outbreak occured in September. What is is that happens at the end of Summer, beginning of Fall? Oh yeah, migration. Birds would've been flying south, and who's to say that some of them weren't infected. That aside, what's keeping one of the already infected crows from leaving the city for whatever reason? Bottom line is, virus that infectious would be almost impossible to contain.
I think, if the game series went post apocalyptic... And I don't necessarily mean in the Extinction sort of way necessarily, drying up the plant life and the oceans... But in general, maybe... Land of the Dead style... It would've been a more believable scenario, and could've brought Resident Evil into a new chapter that way. Now, the world isn't all good and safe, instead, humans are on the brink of being overtaken by the T-Virus and are struggling to survive. There's a situation I could believe.
Not, "T-Virus contained, Umbrella lost stock, everyone hugs... Meanwhile! Deep underneath the surface of the earth, for centuries these parasites were hidden! And now, they are on the rise again!"

What you just wrote is incoherent and an utter eyesore. Were you a writer for the plot of RE4? Or are you a screenplay editor for a Paul W.S. Anderson film?

I'm sorry, are our opinions offending you? Perhaps you should get them right first, however, before being so upset.

The story makes sense, after a fashion. My problem with it is it's awful. How many 80's action flicks start with, 'Agent, you must go forth and rescue the President's Daughter!' It's cliche and poorly written. And remember, I'm basing this against games whose high points are, 'Actually, the woman in the dress whose a man who doesn't know he's dressing as a woman,' and, 'Dead? I'm not dead. Ignore that other game where I died.' The stories were never great but they at least tried to be origional. RE4...isn't even that. It's just poor.

The problem with Leon is he's completely inhuman. At no point does he show fear, worry, concern, pleasure, happyness, whatever. He might says he's happy to see them but his emotions never show. The only two he does show are smugness with his, also badly done, one liners and irritation that there are yet more monster to muss his hair or Ashley has been kidnapped. Again. In one game that woman starts giving Princess Peach a run for her money. Even Leon thinking he's cool isn't a problem. It's a delusion many share. But constantly ramming how awesome he is down the players throat...that's not so great.

And he doesn't even move realistically. He can dodge lazer beams. He can flip and jump and damn near fly. And that's just the cutscenes and QTE's, where as the main game stuff, like taking an axe to the face and ignoring it is simply something you have to accept with a pinch of salt or the game couldn't be played. This is stuff put in to show you how cool he is. They couldn't, y'know, made it realistic.

The zombies aren't a problem with me. The ganados are a replacement, however, are crap. If you're gonna get rid of zombies at least replace them with an enemy that can use some common sense, like maybe running into a position to be shot and then walking nice and slow, so as to be a good target, isn't so great. Or get stuck in the scenery a lot, which always seems to happen to me.

And then there are the basic issues...little horror, few puzzles, almost no exploration. What were the early games all about? Oh my, was it horror, puzzles and exploration? Goodness me!! They were! And so some folk don't consider it a good Resident Evil game because it lacks any of the elements that made them play RE, has a crap storyline and a main character than you can only really relate to if your idea of a good hero is someone who just kicks ass and looks pretty doing it, since his human sid has been supressed by the evil hair parasite on his head.

So, while you are of course free to think the game awesome, and more power to you, please don't assume we're all whingy morons just because we don't love the damned thing. And if you insist we do, then please address the above points...without belittling folk. And in a different threat, since this is a tale of the movies.

Speaking of which, I'm sorta glad the RE4 movie can never be, what with the world being ended. They can't maul any more games. I can see it now. Leon S Kennedy approaches the door, opens to find Ashely...gone. Long gone. Alice has already gotten her, made out with her, converted her to a lesbian worshipper and then gone on to punch out El Gigante with one blow, kill the annoying midget with her mind before he can cause any trouble, and seduced Salazar so he gives up his plans and joins her as a force for good.

By the time Leon would first meet Ashley if he was the hero anymore. But even Leon cannot stand before Alice's might. Especially when Anderson is involved. Lord, I had to laugh reading that script. 'The face is almost perfection...no, wait, we see her nude, really is perfection!'
