I'm sorry, are our opinions offending you? Perhaps you should get them right first, however, before being so upset.

The story makes sense, after a fashion. My problem with it is it's awful. How many 80's action flicks start with, 'Agent, you must go forth and rescue the President's Daughter!' It's cliche and poorly written. And remember, I'm basing this against games whose high points are, 'Actually, the woman in the dress whose a man who doesn't know he's dressing as a woman,' and, 'Dead? I'm not dead. Ignore that other game where I died.' The stories were never great but they at least tried to be origional. RE4...isn't even that. It's just poor.

The problem with Leon is he's completely inhuman. At no point does he show fear, worry, concern, pleasure, happyness, whatever. He might says he's happy to see them but his emotions never show. The only two he does show are smugness with his, also badly done, one liners and irritation that there are yet more monster to muss his hair or Ashley has been kidnapped. Again. In one game that woman starts giving Princess Peach a run for her money. Even Leon thinking he's cool isn't a problem. It's a delusion many share. But constantly ramming how awesome he is down the players throat...that's not so great.

And he doesn't even move realistically. He can dodge lazer beams. He can flip and jump and damn near fly. And that's just the cutscenes and QTE's, where as the main game stuff, like taking an axe to the face and ignoring it is simply something you have to accept with a pinch of salt or the game couldn't be played. This is stuff put in to show you how cool he is. They couldn't, y'know, made it realistic.

The zombies aren't a problem with me. The ganados are a replacement, however, are crap. If you're gonna get rid of zombies at least replace them with an enemy that can use some common sense, like maybe running into a position to be shot and then walking nice and slow, so as to be a good target, isn't so great. Or get stuck in the scenery a lot, which always seems to happen to me.

And then there are the basic issues...little horror, few puzzles, almost no exploration. What were the early games all about? Oh my, was it horror, puzzles and exploration? Goodness me!! They were! And so some folk don't consider it a good Resident Evil game because it lacks any of the elements that made them play RE, has a crap storyline and a main character than you can only really relate to if your idea of a good hero is someone who just kicks ass and looks pretty doing it, since his human sid has been supressed by the evil hair parasite on his head.

So, while you are of course free to think the game awesome, and more power to you, please don't assume we're all whingy morons just because we don't love the damned thing. And if you insist we do, then please address the above points...without belittling folk. And in a different threat, since this is a tale of the movies.

Speaking of which, I'm sorta glad the RE4 movie can never be, what with the world being ended. They can't maul any more games. I can see it now. Leon S Kennedy approaches the door, opens to find Ashely...gone. Long gone. Alice has already gotten her, made out with her, converted her to a lesbian worshipper and then gone on to punch out El Gigante with one blow, kill the annoying midget with her mind before he can cause any trouble, and seduced Salazar so he gives up his plans and joins her as a force for good.

By the time Leon would first meet Ashley if he was the hero anymore. But even Leon cannot stand before Alice's might. Especially when Anderson is involved. Lord, I had to laugh reading that script. 'The face is almost perfection...no, wait, we see her nude, really is perfection!'

What? Seriously. I can see why some people like RE4, but it's by far not the best game ever. It might be your favorite, but saying it's the best game ever is like me saying that The Dark Knight is the best movie ever just because it sold well, and you got kids with "Why so serious?" T-shirts plaguing the city.
And I suppose 50 Cent is the best rapper ever because he sold so well?
The common consumer is an idiot. He'll look at the surface and judge it by that. And that's just it. Resident Evil 4 may seem fun on the outside, but there's really no depth to either the storyline, or the gameplay. Yes, you can do a lot of actions... But only when the game prompts you to do so. Yes, there's fluid dialogue and lots of it, but it's some of the most pointless writing I've ever heard. Leon said, "I don't remember being a part of your crappy script," for a reason. He was talking to Capcom.

I for one, thought RE4 was pretty good. It's far from my favorite, and doesn't really remind me of the originals at all, but I thought it was decent as far as a game goes. However, I certainly wouldn't want to see a movie made from it just because I don't think RE is ready for live-action, nor will ever be. Degeneration is close-enough in my opinion. If I really want to see a RE4 movie, I'll just put the game in and watch the movie browser all the way through

Ok im watching RE the movie, and im thinking how bad the movies are gunna turn out with the edition of the fourth movie already in the making, so im like lets look up something on the movie, guesss what i found out, well by a rumor they are gunna kill of Alice Arc and replace the lead role with Claire Redfield, but thats just a rumor but has anyone else heard about it? im just wandering cause i hope the do kill alice i dont like her characters actor anymore, ive noticed that in all of milla jovoviche's movies shes always got the same character, dumb stupid kick ass girl, she doesnt brink anything new in any of her movies. if this comes true ill be the happiest camper in the world

Edit: btw, this thread is confusing. I thought it was about 'RE4 the movie' but it's about 'the 4th RE movie'. Incubate is the RE4 movie.

I got confused by this thread as well, which is why I shifted to my comparison of the heroines of RE4 and the RE movies.

Look at the pictures I included...they strike the same pose. The only difference between the two is the clothing (and Alice's hair is slightly longer than Leon's). And the fact that Leon obviously brushes his hair more than Alice does.

The game character most like Alice is without a doubt Wesker! (since RE-CV)
Both of them were infected with a virus and instead of becoming a zombie or hideous, mutated creature, they both retained their 'good' looks and sense of fashion. Their bodies both 'melded' with the virus to give them super human powers.
Wesker does all the same ridiculous stunts and moves that Alice can do, except for Alice's telepathic, super mind powers (in Extinction). We havn't seen RE5 yet so who knows if he'll develop something similar.

How are Leon's kicks and suplexes, scowling and corny one liners, more offensive or unrealistic than the shit Wesker pulls off?
