Change that one thing and you will have a watered down and low-budged "classic RE game".
i agree with this as well

But seriously, ever since this thread I've been having these fragmented dreams of new scenarios, wtf. ><
I dreamed of the mall, a street fair a church basement and supplemental passages in the Hive so far.

Capcom abandoned the Outbreak series because of sales, the reason it got low sales was because:

Outbreak File #1 was only online in Japan and USA, bad move.

Outbreak File #2, this was the main problem, why release 4 files at full price?

It's just stupid and a money whore technique, they could've kept all 20 levels in one Outbreak instead of splitting it into 4 which caused the death of the Outbreak series.

        Oh well.

I agree as well, it would be probably the best way to remake the Outbreak series, IF they ever did.

One thing I'd want though no matter what they'd do, is keep character specifics. That's what sold it for me, why I like it so much. Each character had completely different stats, down to virus gauge speed, running speed, aim, everything. It made it a really good game to choose your own style and work with it, not to mention the obvious special abilities each has.
So let me ask out of curiosity, who did you guys always play as?

Yoko. I can't stand only having four slots to carry things around in.

One thing I would love to see in a Outbreak is a Create Your Own Character function. It would taste like awesome.

              Yoko too.
Never played online so 8 item slots was a must with all the raccoons running around.

God...I remember, I had an old AOL screenname I used to role-play with. "Puzzlemaster Jim."

Why do they have to get rid of classic cameras just because some players can't handle it? Why can't they just keep them and give the players themselves an option to chose the over the shoulder one?

Personally, classic cameras gives mood and style by placing importance on certain elements of the background. Making the backgrounds pretty scenery. I hate free cams cause there is nothing artistic at all about it. Free cams are a one size fits all / vanilla bane of videogames. You can't have mood with them. No one ever follows somebody on his back for 8 hours unless they're a toddler.

This. A Behind the shoulder cam would just take all the fun out of Outbreak. I wouldn't even buy it. One of the things I loved so much about Outbreak was.... the Camera angles!

If they are remade with a new camera system. Count me out. I'm only buying it if it has the classic system of camera.

I fucking cannot stand free cams and behind the shoulder cams.

Fixed camera angles are a thing of the past, and that's all there really is to it. What's the last title you played that had fixed camera angles? For me, it was probably MGS3 Snake Eater, and you know what? MGS3 Subsistence came out and brought with it a free-form, controllable camera. I liked fixed camera angles too, but then again, I also liked 2D side-scrollers, and they're dead now as well. Just like everything in life, video games evolve and change with time.

And yet...your so-called favorite game this gen, Dead Space, features exactly that. Hmm.

It would have been even better with camera angles.

Not the same thing. I assume the angles you're talking about are the Resident Evil/Silent Hill-type angles where when moving from one area to another, the view changes(and the screen lags for a split-second) as if there were hidden cameras hidden all around the environment. In God of War, the angles are fixed to a degree, but they also follow Kratos wherever he goes.

                            No.

I'm talking about any sort of camera system that is cinematic in nature and is not first person, behind the shoulder or a free cam. God of War fits that bill perfectly. Outbreaks camera is extremely similar to God of Wars camera system anyway.

Well, as usual, that's pretty broad. You can't just group games like classic Resident Evils and God of War as games with fixed camera angles like you group games like Gears of War and Dead Space together as games with over-the-shoulder angles. There's a lot of difference in between the latter. Sure, the angles are 'fixed' in both types of games, but they are not the same by any stretch, and this is one of the reasons that the games are very different from one another.

While over-the-shoulder cams work for classic RE games, they do not work with multiplayer games and only serve to boggle down gameplay. "O hay! theres a zombie 5 feet from me but I have to take 3 steps forward to see it!"

You wan't to sacrifice gameplay for nostalgia.

I'm not against classic cameras but the RE4 style is a lot of fun and can be scary if done right, which I just explained how.
