I agree with Beanovsky that Rebecca is a beast! Like I usually do with most shotgun-wielding characters, I got rid of her other firearms (MP5 + ammo), and shells started being dropped all over the place! Not to mention she starts with like 60 of them! I messed around with her at the public assembly last night and mopped up a healthy chunk of Majini, including two or three executioners. I'm definitely surprised that they made Rebecca this strong... she makes Barry look weak!

i just got lost in nightmares and i have to say omg xD im sitting with the same scary feeling just like i did with the older resident evil games XD man why dident they make the entire re 5 game scary like that.

As xdeadpan said, it's not as nostalgic as LiN but it's a fine addition to RE5 for 400MSP. As I expected this is heavily combat oriented, and it's like playing Mercs with a storyline. No extra files is a bummer, but I undestand that it was necesssary to keep the pace of the scenario.

Rocket turret guys are assholes. I despise them so much, but they actually keep you running around to avoid the missiles and that works to make you feel a bit overwhelmed... Nothing a good RE(4) veteran can't handle, of course .

Now on Mercs Reunion: Rebecca IT'S A MONSTER (Resident Evil 1 Vintage right there). She only has 2 guns, but the shotgun is BEAST. Plus she has 2 First Aid Sprays making any mercs level a breeze. The flamethrower "melee" is sick! I still have to play with Josh, but it seems that playing him it's gonna be a blast.

Oh and xdeadpan I agree, Doug it's an obsessive Jill fanboy, RIP Dougie haha

Seems like the 360 achievements are borked for it at the moment. At least the ones I've unlocked aren't unlocked when I view it on Xbox.com or compare to other players.

Crap 360 has it already. To those of you ps3 users just hang on because tomorrow its released. Control that urge people xD

By the way am I the only one that experiences heavy audio de-sync in the intro and ending cutscene? Like, the audio plays waaaaaay too early for the animation. We're talking like a third of a second too early. (The mid-section cutscene, however, seems to be fine.)

Hmm. I feel a little nerdy being one of the first to post, but I’ll let it go. I’m tired, and I need some sleep, so I’ll just throw my thoughts together and get some rest.

All in all, I liked Desperate Escape a lot. I avoided a lot of the later gameplay videos and scans/pictures, so some of the enemies that appeared (the Executioner, mostly) surprised me. I also didn’t expect to have an assload of weapons and ammo. I mean, fuck, I found everything under the sun, including a rocket launcher that I never got to use (I kept thinking there would be a stronger boss after each one I just defeated). I’m sure once I play on Veteran and Professional it’s going to be a different story, but Normal seemed far too easy.

I was relieved the cut-scenes we saw in the trailer were indeed present in this scenario, unlike Lost in Nightmares. Too bad we didn’t get any extra files, but I think I’m very content with what we received in LiN, especially the whole revelation about the Irving/Ada partnership.

(Going on somewhat of a tangent: I found it a little old how the Majini seemed to act more like zombies in the cut-scene where they attack Jill and Josh on the roof of the last building. Maybe it’s just me, but I thought their behavior was a bit abnormal from what we’ve seen before.)

I’m trying to figure out which scenario I liked better. Right now, I’m leaning towards Desperate Escape, but I’m not entirely sure, because both scenarios are very, very different. I adored LiN, because it was nostalgic, and the atmosphere was brilliant, but the last part of the scenario—in the sewer or wherever—is just a drag, and it has very little replay value, to me. Desperate Escape certainly didn’t make my heart tremble with memories of the Arklay Mansion, but it made me panic, and I liked fighting off hordes of enemies, like in Mercenaries. It wasn’t classic Resident Evil, but it felt appropriate for RE5.

Ahahaha… and poor Doug. Rest in peace, soldier. Can’t help but parallel him to a fanatic Jill fanboy, though. :p

On a final note, I think Josh’s voice actor is phenomenal! Granted, all the voice acting in RE5 is excellent, but I think Josh’s voice is something special. I just really like it. He’s a blast to play in Mercenaries, too. He and Business Sheva are a great team!

I look forward to reading everyone else’s thoughts when I wake up. So tired now.

DESPERATE ESCAPE SPOILER AHEAD......Whilst I was not expecting this game to resemble LIN, I would have prefered at least some of those elements, such as the new files, and new B.O.Ws. Just played my first run through, and a fantasticaly enjoyable game, but very much in the style of the frantic chapters of Biohazard 4 or 5, and not the package we got with LIN. This add-on does what it says on the tin, especially if you play the last scene on Professional mode! It is completely different in pace & style to Lost in Nightmares, being very much based in the Biohazard 5 school of gaming - lots of ammo & lots of enemies to waste with it, but no puzzles, no stealth or careful thinking required....The subtleties of LIN, such as the phantom piano player are gone, but this is still a very enjoyable romp in the style of mercenaries....it reminded me of the first chapter of Biohazard 5, where the focus was very much on numbers of enemies, and survival comes from not being overwhelmed by them, as a pose to any particular puzzle solving or investigation ~ Just keep pumping that trigger, and pick up all the ammo, that is in much abundance. I wont spoil too much, but suffice to say the action is fast, and some old foes from the main game make a 'welcome' appearance. Apologies if I missed any files, but in my desperate escape, I have not found any!?

I just found out that the first Guardian you see in the prison area (basically the first one you ever see on your first playthrough) is the 12th enemy in Pro (and whatever number it is in the other difficulties) but it's extremely hard to kill.
You need to get a Magnum and be extremely fast because as soon as he gets near the top of the stairs he just disappears and won't appear ever again. Use Incendiary grenades to stop him and then finish him off with the Magnum.
As you can guess this requires lots of Restarts.
