How? Part of the tension in Dead Space comes from the fact that you have to cut enemies' limbs off in order to kill them and that's only achievable with the camera that would allow you to aim freely.

I also like cinematic cameras and it suited old RE games; however, when it comes to choose between fixed cinematic camera and a good gameplay, I prefer to throw fixed camera out of the window. After playing MGS3:Subsistence I would never go back to the original MGS3 with fixed camera, they were awful.

Why do people who hate fixed cams have to be so greedy? It could easily be an option. DMC still has cameras to give the feeling of spectale. Seeing a stairwell first person and seeing a stairwell from a fixed vertiginous view are two different feelings. How crummy would the first DMC had been had it been over the shoulder?

Create Your Own Character would be pretty awesome. xD

I use David. Always. He has pretty even stats, plus a default weapon. In File 2 I just haul Yoko around to carry extra items, I can't stand using defensive characters. >< I die easy with them, and I have a bad habit of liking to kill things. Plus, I think David is just fucking cool, my favorite RE character out of ALL characters/games. That says something. xD

None of us hate fixed cameras. Its just that the over the shoulder camera is funner.

And you cannot bring DMC into this. DMC wouldn't work with over the shoulder because ITS A HACK AND SLASH just like God of War.

The over the shoulder camera isn't right for all games that use fixed cameras, but it is right for Resident Evil.

I found MGS 3 difficult to play and took a while to get the feel of it and be really good at it. I heard MGS3 Subsistence was a lot better but have yet to play it and would like to see the differences. I have no problem with over the shoulder view and think each game needs to do whatever to make the game fun and easy to play. The new game play style of RE 4/5 I thought was a needed change and was not what was wrong with those games. I really would like to see what there plans are for 6 and what else is in store for the series. Another outbreak game would be great but I don't see capcom putting the proper time or money into it. It would be nice to see a game like GTA IV but your in raccoon city and have to escape.

You wan't to sacrifice gameplay for nostalgia.

I'm not against classic cameras but the RE4 style is a lot of fun and can be scary if done right, which I just explained how.
I don't find over the shoulder to be that fun. Just about every game has it and it's nothing special. Camera Angles add a lot of fun for me. I love the cinematic views it gives you.

RE doesn't need to be mutiplayer. And Outbreak's online would work fine with camera angles. The first two did.

Also to CR29. The only real difference is some games have Fixed camera angles and some have camera that pan around a little. Some have a mixture of both. I like all three styles.

It could of been like RE 3.5 where when you hold aim down it shifts to over the shoulder briefly while you shoot, then goes back to a cinematic view.

Also Isn't subsistence camera the same as MGS4's? If so that is really gonna deter me from buying it now. I hated MGS4's camera so much. I had no problems whatsoever with MGS3's camera. It was fun, easy to use, and extremely cinematic. Ill buy Subsistance, but only for MG1 and MG2.

im gonna step in here with a little bit off-topicness and say that MGS3's camera angles sucked ass it really did. It didnt work at all. the free camera angle in Subsistence is WAY better and it works unlike MGS3's.

                    Actually only 5 do.(?)

                    RE4
That RE4 Rip off on a boat (cold fear?)
                    Dead Space
                    RE5
I guess Silent Hill 5 kinda

You're confusing Third Person shooter games with games where you have to stop to Aim.

Theres no argument. Its the exact same game play with better movement and vision.

You say that REutbreak had fixed cameras so the next one should too. Well guess what, RE: outbreak sold badly and one of the chief complaints was that it was outdated.

If you go back and read what I first said and get over your inhibition to the new camera style, then you will see that I describe how the new style will fit the RE games perfectly.

Now to make things clear. This is not an argument about which camera angles are better. I like both types of camera angles. I want REmake 2 to have classic angles. I want RE6 to have a completely new style. Outbreak needs to evolve, and I think it would really work with the RE4 formula.

Nope, a lot more. Nowadays almost every tpp shooter have over-the-shoulder camera when you aim.

It's not evolution, it's a style choice. Spagheti isn't evolution, it's just a cheap way to feed alot of people with nothing. Don't make me arm wrestle you over this argument!

Those are just the number of Survival Horror games with the over the shoulder camera. And the fact that there is already 5 is saddening. There are tons upon tons of shooters with the same camera system as RE4. Gears of Wars being a prime example. I am just really really sick of that angle. I cannot bear to see it again it's so unattractive and boring.

Outbreak sold badly cause it was barely advertised. And RE4 was just about to be released as well.

I hate it when people say over the shoulder is the evolution of how games are played. I certainly don't want every game to have an over the shoulder cam. That would make everything bland. There is no revolutionary fix all camera. If Outbreak had an RE4 style camera, it would make it play sorta like MGS4. Because Outbreak doesn't have tank controls remember. I think it would be more annoying trying to position the damned camera to look the right way, than to have a nice looking camera position. Plus in small spaces the camera would constantly bump into walls and cause glitches.

Over-the-shoulder is a camera view point popularized by Resident Evil 4 that is featured in most modern third-person shooters and third-person action games.

Don't say it's not evolving. It's the most popular and effective way for third-person shooting games to be played.

It was first brought to prominence by its use in Resident Evil 4, where its use on protagonist Leon Kennedy, along with the widescreen format, made for a much more cinematic experience than previous games in the series. It was re-used to great effect in Resident Evil 5, and has become a popular camera mode for other survival horror games, such as Dead Space.

That whole article is bullshit. How anyone can say RE4 is more cinematic than Remake is just utter bullshit. Article failed.
