Not to sound rude, but Bioflames is a little behind the times with its information. If we had a more up to date source then it might stop the repeated questions. Also gives me something to look at.

The "problem" community members would still exist if there wasn't a 1.5 topic and they would just invade other topics and places. Like two people trying to hype 1.5's price in Dominions new video. The reason price talks piss me off is that the prototype is only worth what the seller vs what the collector is willing to pay. My Mum owned a Jumeau Antique porcelin doll worth £2000 catalogue price, but when she tried to sell it for £1200 she found there was no interest. What I'm trying to get at is that even if we throw big numbers around that actually entices a seller out, as soon as they realise that they won't get near the numbers thrown around, it will more than likely make them go underground and make the community a laughing stock when it comes to said deals in the future.

What we really need is one of us to secretly win the Lottery. Pipe dream that.

Anyway to get back on topic, how is the THIA 1.5 section coming along?

Most people who're "in the trade" (in lack of a better expression), and anyone with half-a-brain, usually know the difference between morons throwing out random wishful numbers and a realistic price for something. Although it's true that a lot of stuff has gone up in price over the last decade. Partly due to an increase in collectors, partly because of the lack of stuff left to be found (as some might've seen, Baldur's Gate for the PS 1 was recently released, that's another of the unreleased "holy grails" for the PS1 being dropped out in the open) and partly because of a general change in the economy.
This is true. But sort of going off what you said later, there are some people that aren't really in the know. Look at what did happen with the copy that surfaced in 2007. If, let's say, the guy was unaware of the community and the disc was actually sold to a PS proto collector that he found (assuming "he" was the buyer afterall), he offered it up for $300 to him supposedly. What if he had instead located a topic with several people making larger offers? I would agree that ridiculous prices could be ascertained and ignored, as you said there is a ceiling that eventually nobody will pay and the price would have to come down. But what if he sees people saying like $5000 or something. There are some, few, people who might pay that or could gather it up between a few friends. It would limit the pool of possibilities though. We had to gather several people pooling a lot of money together when we had our lead, which took time and coordination, and ended up being a possible potential factor in our failure to purchase it because we didn't have it all ready to go. Whereas if he had messaged Dot50 and offered it to him for $300 because of a lack of "awareness" of at least price and full interest, he probably would have paid it easily out of his own pocket and the deal would have been done and over and 1.5 would be in fan hands.

Now that's not to say you aren't correct as well though. Awareness is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it can help us, on the other it could hurt or limit our possibilities. I think it all depends on just who does have it and the way they want to approach it.

And awareness of the community itself and at least some desire for it is good. Afterall, we do want it to be sold/traded/obtained by the community - not to some random collector or a playstation collector because they don't know who else to go to.

Though, it's true that general talk/hype often pushes the prices of something up high, but that's not always the case. Most stuff hits the ceiling and if it goes beyond that, no one is willing to pay for it anymore. Starting some sort of censorship on the subject and making it a forum taboo is not a solution to anything. If anything, the lack of general awareness is what ultimately lead to the most recent build to have surfaced end up in the hands of someone I guess could only suitably be described as an "outsider" (That person's a known name to anyone who's into PlayStation collecting and in that case PlayStation > Resident Evil.)

Although communication is key, I can agree that some stuff is better off left in the dark and for the grown ups to deal with. But that's the way things are already. To a certain degree, anyway.
I agree. I don't think 1.5 should be not talked about at all. I just think there should be a lot less questions about who has it, how much it could cost or how much we'd pay, ect. Less "Oh man I want this so badly!!!!!!" kinda stuff. Proper discussion of it would be best. And definitely pass leads on to people like Carn, me, Dot50, ect. I know we/I've said that before, and I know it sounds a bit conceited and I don't mean it to be. Just you gotta deal with these people in a certain way, and I've personally witnessed the attempts and effects of what happens when someone doesn't have the communication skills (I don't mean language issues) and other issues that shouldn't have them trying to deal with potential sources.

In fact, it's really come to light that because of Bioflames' existence and the way we acted and hyped things up there so much is one of the reasons the beta is being so coveted and hidden.
This really begs the question: Why do we even, not only allow the discussion, but allow thread-topics of BioHazard 1.5 to exist?

Think about it - all the legible text information, audio and video on the subject manner exists to the open public, at BioFlames. There is simply nothing furthermore to discuss about BioHazard 1.5, period... that is, until after it is finally released.

1.5-specific topics, such as this one, only lead to people asking random questions that have not only been repeated and answered multiple times, over the years, but more annoyingly, the answers to most questions that people seek are found within the HTML pages of BioFlames. Even worse, add the fact that there are some people completely unaware of the damages they inflict for "the cause", by throwing out prices they would pay, asking 'who has it?', accusing certain people of owning+hoarding it, etc., and we have nothing more than the prolonging of the (hopeful, eventual) release of BioHazard 1.5.

Bottom line - thread-topics about this prototype get the community nowhere, and allow the continuinity to "shoot ourselves in the foot"... so, why allow it to continue?

Going back to what you said about the Sonic 2 beta Enrico Marini, the last major beta release for that game was in 2006 which is believed to be the "Nick Arcade" prototype.

Just think, that was a game from 1992 and that beta didn't surface till 2006.

1.5 will come in good time.

Which is why I jump on anyone discussing the actual value of 1.5. Hyping its value doesn't help the cause.

Its sad to think that all the hype and discussions over the years have caused people to think that the prototype has real value where as something like the beta of Sonic 2 with the Hidden Palace and Wood zone was so openly shared.

Its kind of the kid with the ball scenario, one kid is happy playing with his blocks until another kid takes his ball. Because we want the prototype it would give a holder of a copy the feeling of importance/power.

On day it will turn up. And that day, the price will rock bottom.

Why? Cause Inflames isn't around much anymore? He hasn't spearheaded the 1.5 scene for quite a long while now, and in fact was not around publicly when the most recent legitimate lead almost came through for us. Just because he isn't around doesn't mean we won't ever obtain it. The 1.5 scene doesn't revolve around him.

Edit: And if you mean that because the site isn't being updated or Bioflames is kinda dead in activity, we won't get it, that's probably not true. In fact, it's really come to light that because of Bioflames' existence and the way we acted and hyped things up there so much is one of the reasons the beta is being so coveted and hidden. Look at what happened with Playstation Museum. He might have released another video and more information about it, but the community jumped him with wild speculations, threats, beggings, ect. We've shot ourselves in the foot over time. That's why these days we prefer to keep things quiet and just casual discussion. We will obtain 1.5 eventually.

How many times are you gonna ask this? This is like the third time you've pretty much asked the same thing.

Inflames got burnt out on 1.5 stuff a long time ago. Keep in mind he opened his site 11 years ago, saw all of his exclusive images long before anyone else, ect. He lost most of his motivation years ago and no longer has the desire to work on/update the site. I don't blame him either, it gets pretty tiring when there's not really any new information to discuss and such and the only thing that goes on is having to answer the same general questions and info about the game to the few new people that would pop up all the time. The Bioflames forum pretty much died over the last couple years, except for a few people who still post some mod stuff and haven't relocated to here or another forum.

Basically, the general public probably won't hear from Inflames again unless/until we get a copy of the game. He's still around in the background and sometimes gets involved with our leads, but that's about all he has the time and interest for.

Looks like a new version of BioFlames that Inflames never got around to finishing. Nothing you won't have seen at the proper BioFlames site.
