While I enjoyed Resident Evil 6 for what it was upon reflection, this series truly needs a visionary to lead the development of the next major installment.

I'm not entirely certain I would call CliffyB a "visionary," necessarily, but I think he definitely has the gumption to tell Capcom that it desperately needs to narrow its focus for the next title instead of trying to be a jack of all trades, master of none in the hopes of appealing to everyone under the sun. I know Resident Evil 4 isn't very popular around here, but at least it knew what it was, and even if, for the sake of argument, it only did one or two things, it did them better than anyone else.

Yeah having 5 J'aavo firing at you and having duck duck behind a corner is completely the wrong thing to do, thanks for correcting me there. Next time I'll somersault in front of them and roll around on the floor as a distraction so my NPC can kill them...sadly yes, this does work.

We gotta stop doing this thing where we say stuff we both agree on. It's happened more than once lately. It's disgusting and people don't approve of it.

Well, the first Gears of War was heavily influenced by RE4 soooo... we're going full circle there it seems. Anyway, I love you Cliff, but please stay away from Biohazard unless you have something intelligent to say about it.

Duck and cover reliant gameplay, you either passing through a corridor or defending a fort in the center with progress persistantly being halted until all enemies are dead, enemies always crawling out of a spawn point or two that moves every now and then, any prolonged trips outside your "cover zone" is a ticket to death, etc.... yeah, I'm not really seeing any of that.

Once upon a time, I compared Gears of War to being a modern day Probotector/Contra, but now that we have Lost Planet 2, Vanquish and Resident Evil 6 came out, I'd say they are much better samples of that style of gameplay brought up to current gen's "standards"

I see nothing of Gears of War in Resident Evil 6.

If anything, Resident Evil 6 plays like a weird lovechild of Lost Planet 2 and Vanquish. Which reminds me; hope Lost Planet-esque reticle zones gets added in with the new camera options.

Makes sense to me. It's not like Gears of War's story is any worse than Resident Evil's. At least the gameplay will improve.
Wow, you actually realized the irony of the creator of the series that RE6 modeled a large chunk itself after offering his help not being a bad thing instead of freaking out over it!

    +2 credit in your direction!

And Capcom again is responsible for the most influentual third person shooter ... ever?

So I guess it "could" be interesting to see what they could if they combine forces...

But really, Resident Evil 6 is a case of being horrifyingly misunderstood and incorrectly played. Gameplay mechanics that are poorly explained and various functions that I'd dare say are too complex for "slow" players to properly utilize/grasp when not gradually introduced to them. The execution of QTEs are ... questionable, sure, but in many of the cases; how do you even pull off those things in an "interactive" environment?

    Anyway, I really feel like RE6 is another case of things like;

People playing Vanquish like a cover shooter, moaning about it being boring and slow.
People playing GodHand without building combos, moaning about repetitiveness and lacking intuitivity.
People playing Lost Planet multiplayer w/out bitching about stuff being "unfair" when they haven't even bothered learning weapon and movement effects.
People playing Bionic Commando like a cover shooter and moaning about the gameplay not offering much.
People playing Devil May Cry 2.
People playing any game on the easiest difficulty, moaning about it being too easy and/or short.
People playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, moaning about hit inaccurate hitboxes; although they remain consistant and play by very solid rules.
People playing Silent Hill and actually trying to engage in combat with everything that moves, just to moan about the battle system being ass.
People playing the new Steel Battalion, moaning about the lack of a giant ass controller, whilst at the same time not bothering to "set things up" for the new one.
People playing pretty much any game without ever taking any risks or making investments in fear of losing something and pretty much effectively always robbing themselves of the thrill the rewarding feeling that succesfully pulling off something awesome brings.

Well, we're not that far from this happening, all we need is to have a chainsaw as a weapon.

CliffyB can't fix shit. Needs to actually make something non-Gears of War before flaunting himself.
