If they did start over, though, the reboot would mean the old games in the style of 5 and 6. Would you really want to see Chris Redfield punching boulders in the RE1 courtyard? It's arguable that none of the creative decisions Capcom has made this generation - for any of their franchises - have been wise. I'd rather just have them put the series to rest, but we know that won't happen.
I have no faith in them being able to pull off another REmake. Maybe if we had the return of Mikami to the development team, they MIGHT be able to do it. Maybe if 1.5 was leaked and there was LOTS of hype around it (you know it wouldn't get lots of hype, though) Capcom would take their heads out of their butts. Maybe if there was an industry crash..
..or maybe, just maybe, if game critics and fans alike really do start admitting and being more vocal about being sick of playing these same types of boring games. Maybe then the world of survival horror can rise from it's grave.
