Nah, I'm 99.9% sure about what you meant to say.

My mistake though, was giving you too much credit. Despite what you had said about trying to understand the opinions that went against yours, you only said that for dramatic effect. You didn't really mean it. Amiright?

But hey, enjoy your game in any way you wish. Don't let those that you branded as haters stop you from doing that. Right? Its your money and time. Go at it my friend. Hell, I love me some Killer 7. When it first came out it also got mixed reviews. Still love the game.

Anyway moving to matters more on topic, director Kobayashi explained why RE6 is an action game and why Survival Horror is just too damn niche these days. This sure explains a lot:

Kobayashi : "There's a lot of niche horror out there that really core fans want. You can do a B-movie or a C-movie type of horror, but that would only appeal to a limited audience.

With Resident Evil, we're trying to be as inclusive as possible. We're trying to reach as many people as possible. As you said yourself, that makes it hard to maintain a horror feel to it when you're trying to be inclusive".
    and:

Hirabayashi: "We're making games and we need to have mass-market appeal in order to survive."
There is no going back, then. So a reboot it is.

Just played through Chapter 1 of Chris' scenario, this is quite literally the most tedious and poorly designed POS section of a game I've ever played. Chapter 2 is even worse, having one AI following you around is bad enough, but having four AI all following you around, getting in your way, bullets coming from all directions, surrounded by both friendly and enemy fire... I don't even think this is a good example of a 3rd person shooter. I've just been in a room in the Ace of Spades running round in circles trying to find a safe spot to hide, but can't find one, the AI is so out of control and scrambling all over the place even the cover machnic can't help me because of poor stage design. Maybe I just suck at this type of game, maybe I just need more time, but right now this just isn't doing it for me at all (not that I expected it to, but I at least thought it would live up to some sort of standard).

Who is the composer for this game? Don't even get me started on the music.

Yes the whole point of that section was exactly what it was, a snow storm.

As for the recent Capcom response, fans would never have wanted these new game mechanics but RE4 did more then any fan of the series could have imagined.

Theres a reason fans aren't actual game developers in most cases.

I know what he said. He was lamenting over the fact that he couldn't understand the hate despite being all for differencing opinions. Look it... if someone wants to understand opinions that clash against their own, they have to avoid branding them in any particular way. Otherwise, what's the point of trying to understand them if they already made up their mind about 'em.

@Spera01 - I was trying to point out ORC's human enemies who are bullet sponges. In RE6 you get a lot of that, sorta like in Revelations where enemies don't react right away when you shoot at them. It was tolerable in Rev (which didn't have much variety in terms of weapons compared to 6) but in a shooter like RE6 its very annoying.

Well I hope you enjoy the game. Leon's and Ada's campaign are the best, though. The other two are what is mostly giving this game bad scores. Its not a bad game. Some reviewers did go over the top with their scores. But there is no doubt that it's an uninspired and disappointing game. After RE5, maybe we should've kept our expectations low.

Fair enough I suppose. I shall be back to offer my thoughts once I complete all 4 campaigns.

Anyway, my point was that it wasn't Mikami who managed to make a worse mainline RE game than RE5, with 6.
So far I haven't had the "human sponges" thing happen yet except for one enemy but again, I'll offer more of my thoughts once I complete it. ORC was filled with them though, I'll give you that. As for Mikami, true, but "worse" is still an opinion. RE5, while weak for a "Resident Evil" game, I felt it took elements from RE4 gameplay wise and improved them. I've seen so many different impressions from RE6, it's unbelievable. It definitely is polarizing. I was on metacritic and there's almost a review for every score from 3-9.

I'm enjoying the game so far however. We'll see how long until that changes and if it changes. I heard Jake's campaign and the final chapter for Leon are horrendous, so we'll see.

I am at a complete loss here. I see nothing about this game that makes it the worst RE game or a bad game at all. Perfect? Hardly. Playable and enjoyable? Definitely.

Of course, I play RE games for story/atmosphere first, then gameplay. So as long as I don't completely hate the gameplay I'm going to like it. I think this game has a good (not great) RE-style story and amazing atmosphere in its enemy designs/locations/character interactions... so it gave me all I needed.

I think that whatever happens after RE6 is a win-win scenario. If it commercially flops then we may get a reboot back into a more SH game. If it doesn't then they will refine gp from it and RE7 will be better

RE6 could probably be THE splitting point of the series, depending of what happens later

I was on the same boat not long ago... But the rumored RE2 remake & the potential Revelaitons sequel makes me think twice about saying that now.

Looking at things in a positive light, RE6 could be a necessary anomaly that will lead the mainline series to a proper (and much needed) reboot. Or at least going back to what works.

As it is, RE6 suffers from a rather nasty identity crisis. Wants to be so many things. Unfortunately, it does a poor job at it. For a AAA franchise, that is simply unacceptable. More so with all those people that worked so hard on it. 600 ppl.

This all reminds me of when Mikami worked on RE4 and felt that he needed to make the RE1 remake to remind himself and his team what the series was about.

But apparently the RE6 team seems to have been very busy looking at what worked in other non-RE related games. And they then tried to shoe-horn all those foreign elements into the mix, to cater to 'modern gamers'. With 'mixed' results.

I dunno... maybe I don't wanna believe that there is NO MORE HOPE LEFT.
