I'd hardly call the mobility options functional, either. In order to switch to different types of grenade rounds, you have to go into ammo HUD, highlight the grenades - then press (I think it was) LB to get to the weapon branch out menu, then go through the list to specifically choose grenade launcher and then scroll to which type of round you wanted (acid, nitrogen, explosive.) After that, you have to go back into the weapons menu and equip the grenade launcher if you didn't already have it out and reload.
This is why you should play the game before detailing what you need do. You just tap D pad left or right unlock greande launcher is equipped, then hold aim and press Triangle/Y depending what console you playing on. Done.

What idiot has been using the triangle/Y inventory menu to equip stuff? The only I used that in all 4 campaigns was to delete items or manually mix herbs. The quick-mix option of herbs is pretty spot on though, if you got a red herb and green herb it will mix them before turning them into tablets.

But let's face it, there were a lot of expectations - and Capcom did their share of building them up.

Just tried out The Mercenaries mode. Jake is exactly like Midnight Wesker, the same time extending potential, right down to the same load out.

So far I played the prologue and Leon's first chapter. I have no big complaints at the moment , except for that I actually thought that I would do better then a C rank and take less then two hours, but I guess that is me getting used to the game. Also I miss the mini-chapter structure. The charackters from Leon's campaign (him and Helena) move so akwardly that it annoys me, but I guess there I need to get used to that.

Think it's the "Me too" label they've gotten. Vanquish, Binary Domain, Lost Planet 2, Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil 6 all carry the "Me too" label, yet, strangely enough, they are some of the most content heavy games on the market in their "me too" genre and probably have the most solid and elaborate underlying mechanics for various shit, something which can not be said for the games they are usually accused of copying.

People accuse it of being a Gears of War copy, they go in expecting it to play like Gears of War.
In Gears of War; You open a door, duck 'n' cover, if someone gets close enough you chainsaw lock yourself with a guy and tear the guy a new one (or execute him with a the pre-baked animation for your weapon of choice - if he's down.)
In Resident Evil 6; You open a door and smear a guy's face all over the door-frame, you pick up the next guy and throw him at a crowd, twist the neck of the last guy currently standing, jump down and knee explode the face of a guy who's still struggling to stand up, smash the next guy's head into a table and then spawn another make up session between the last guy and the wall he's facing ... all because it seemed like a good idea at the time.

And why DID the game turn out so flawed? Did they just try to do too much with it?

It definitely is not a joke. Very flawed? Definitely. There is no need to rationalize mixed reviews as they speak for themselves: it's a polarizing game, one you either love or hate. As it happens, most of my favorite games are like that, although 6 is not one of them. However, it is probably the only AAA title I felt I actually fully enjoyed this generation, which says a lot considering how generally flawed the game is.

I agree, with 5, ORC and 6 I feel like they sealed their co-op/multi-player fate.

I'll be going to pick up my copy in a little over an hour and then back to spend the rest of my day playing. It should be a good day.
