(several times in RE6 I found myself deleting things just so could pick u a new item)
This. I had to discard an entire box of ammo or a complete set of grenades a few times just so I could pick up an herb to combine with the one that's already in my inventory. They streamlined the inventory, they might as well have given you an option to mix herbs when you're out of space (like in Code Veronica).

Mostly just Retcons some new guy into the Raccoon City events.
Not really, it just puts a face to things we already knew were going on with the U.S. government. Like Sergei, he's a character introduced to resolve old hanging plot threads while bringing along something else. But also like Sergei, he was under-used so his impact as a new character is somewhat stifled.

    - Plot is meh, and never really does anything with the whole global outbreak stuff. Mostly just Retcons some new guy into the Raccoon City events.
    - Jake's much heralded super awesome fighting stuff is 1) awkward and 2) not actually required?
    - Minimal exploration?
    - Any puzzles?
    - Leon and Ada campaigns are the best?
    - All told, RE5...but longer.

Have I got that about right?
    - Story lacks the RE cheese of the series, while there are some great bits, overall it is forgettable. I cannot think of any instant memes from this.
    - Jakes melee abilties are great and fun, very simple to use and if you do not melee a lot in this game you will run out of ammo, for all three campaigns. Definitely has a use.
    - Yes still Linear for 95% of it.
    - A few puzzles, very few, most in Leon and Ada campaigns, not super challenging but a slight step up from RE5.
    - I enjoyed Chris most myself. Ada had some crappy stealth segments which just doesn't work well with the characters mobility.
    - I think RE5 is the better game, for sure on story and co-op is done better in RE5 what with being able to share items and whatnot (several times in RE6 I found myself deleting things just so could pick u a new item), generally bosses better designed for co-op in RE5 too. RE5 lot less cheap QTEs too. The new combat system in RE6 is really great though and fun to use vs the new abilities enemies been given, Mercs gets a lot more hetic.

In the process of uploading all of the game's files and cutscenes. I have all of Leon's and Ada's files done, with the majority of Chris and Jake's. Only a handful more to go, will be all done tomorrow. You can find the files here. I have already spotted many localization mistakes (the Plaga being referred to as a virus, the fabricated "Operation: Bacillus Terminate" being used in place of the Sterilization Operation and so on), so translations will be done as soon as I get my hands on the Japanese text. Hopefully a little bit more clarity can be gained that way, like every other game in the series.

As for the cutscenes, I am currently uploading all of them in HD. Almost finished Leon's. You can find them on ProjectUmbrellaTV, and they have a specific playlist.

    Can't stress it enough, spoilers.

    Essentially.
Localization is also messier than usual and overall, the entire game is forgettable. At least Sadler was somewhat funny. Simon is a poor mixture of Morgan and spencer.

I think you better finish RE6 in its entirety. The game has too many highs and lows. So its not wise to judge the whole game until you've experienced the whole package. IMO, Ada's campaign is great. But the rest blow chunks.

Anywhoo...your opinion of SotD and Vanquish and how it compares to RE6 is never going to go mainstream any time soon. I don't think. Still, I respect it as a valid opinion. No game will be universally accepted or hated. Opinions etc. etc.

Enemy variety? Well that's meaningless when the feedback you get from shooting them is craptacular. It's like with the human sponges in ORC. Yeah, I tend to focus on gameplay rather than eye-candy. So there you go.

Anyway, my point was that it wasn't Mikami who managed to make a worse mainline RE game than RE5, with 6.

That game is the DEFINITION of boring in my opinion. I can't stand how much praise this game gets. Sure, it's exciting... For like the first two missions. The problem is the game has practically the same enemies throughout the entire campaign right from the first level (just later on they have more armor/one or two bosses but you still fight them the same way), the actions such as sliding and bullet time is fun at first until you realize that's the whole game. The game is extremely repetitive (and if people are complaining that RE6 is just run from room A to B, kill all enemies, rinse and repeat, then they obviously haven't played Vanquish) and has nothing that keeps it fresh and interesting the whole way through. You can find all the weapons within the first level of the game, leaving nothing for you to acquire as the game goes on (unless you count upgrades but besides them practically not doing much except giving you just more ammo, I see no point), the story is horrendous and the main character is completely unlikable as well. The graphics are pretty though and the explosions are nice, I'll give it that, but that's not what makes a good game. I own the game and I absolutely dread having it on my shelf. I'd rather play any other TPS I have over it honestly. It's a shame, I was quite looking forward to it back when it originally came out too.

I still stick by my opinion that Mikami had a great run but now it's coming to a close. Like I said before, I'd LOVE to be pleasantly surprised by Zwei but I'm not believing anything until I see it.
