Anybody wanna play Mercenaries on Xbox? My friend's out of town(we've still only played Leon's campaign, I won't play the other two without her) so I'm looking to play some Mercs while she's gone. I have all three of the pre-order maps. XBL: mountain duwe

    Yep, exactly.

You certainly cannot compare boring button pressing to the puzzles of Resident Evil games--which, as uncomplicated and silly as some people may consider the puzzles to be--at least they took some simple thought process, as opposed to the mindlessness of tediously pressing two buttons, back and forth.

This is why we don't get puzzles anymore.

I actually find this statement rather rude and unnecessary. The issue with the rope climbing has nothing to do with players being too dumb and impatient, as you're insinuating... The mechanic, while not broken and wholly unusable, is just flawed, and it should've been designed differently. And, as biohazard_star already clarified, the button prompts are pretty misleading.

Obviously, Gene and I (and every other person here who had difficulty with the rope climbing) managed to successfully pass that part of the game, so I wouldn't group us in with those who refuse to finish a Resident Evil game because they're too lazy to concentrate on a puzzle.

Sure, the rope climbing part is easy but it's certainly not fun. I still see no reason why we couldn't just hold up on the stick and have our character you know, go up. It's far less tedious than having to hold down two buttons and alternate between them. There are a lot of decisions in RE6 that are like this. There are so many parts that are QTEs but could easily be playable.

    Puzzles?

The rope climbing is easy, but only once you figure out what you need to do. The button prompt itself isn't very clear, as it shows arrows above both trigger button icons at the same time (when you need to press them alternately).

Ugh, seriously. I was in dismay each and every time I encountered the rope segments. I still haven't mastered it; it's far too flunky, and it really interrupts the pace of the game, as you're trying to figure out to accomplish this asinine QTE.

Am I the only one who has had the inventory accidentally open during a bite/grab QTE? It has probably caused me a couple of deaths and dying status, some during an almost perfect combo chain in Mercenaries, which makes it all the more frustrating. I don't know if it's because my controller isn't as tight as it used to be, or because I'm exerting effort in doing the on-screen prompt, but they really should have disabled the d-pad inventory during the attack QTEs. At the very least, make it function only immediately after you have already either failed or succeeded in doing the button prompt. It's not like you even have a reason to open it when you're busy mashing the heck out of X or rotating the analog sticks. Ugh.

The play testers probably didn't have this issue, as they're probably using brand new Dualshock 3 controllers, which don't have loose pressure sensitive faceplate buttons. But still, why the heck would I want to open my god damn inventory when I'm busy trying to not get shoved down a meat grinder!?

That's the only reason co-op games even have an AI partner, because people would complain about it. That Single Player option if taken out completely would cause an uproar.

I don't know how much it will help, but nitrogen rounds will slow the boss down.

Infact RE5 and RE6 is some of the most co-op demanding games to get the right experience I have ever seen. AI just does not cut it for these games full experience.
does anyone ever played kirby super star on super nes? there is a campaign which is impossible in single player.

anyway, its bad they keep with a crappy AI and argues its a multiplayer focused game. someday they will ban single player and will not let us to play the game unless there is another player. but i think RE5 AI its just fine. and i rather single player in the first try of my games. because i dont want someone bored ruin the rythm running like a crazy man. RE5 is full of those.
